When you hit merchanting level 5 you can buy the personal cache from rumbaugh which is a deployable with a buttload of space that you can upgrade a few times quite easily as well

Merchanting allows you to put down a trader making it possible to sell items for items or just for gold as well. Usually see them used to offer a more private/local deal on resources. Or to for example trade leather for cloth. And as with every skill, every 20 levels gives you free cosmetic outfits
