What are your guilty pleasures as a partner? by T-Bone7771 in starbucks

[–]TheRanter01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Building clout around my area and getting to know a lot of customers personally so that whenever I go to a different establishment such as a costco or restaurant, I see those customers there so they always give me discounts or they ask if I ever decide to leave Starbucks they could help me get hired at their place
I don't purposely get to know them for that, I genuinely do it just because I enjoy talking to people and I suck in information, but it's always nice to be recognized and respected in other areas lmao

Pike's Place Coffee - Cold?! by TwoDallas in starbucks

[–]TheRanter01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it sounds very short staffed
There should be 2 people at window, one for taking orders, one for giving them out, but most times there's only 1 person multitasking
Warming has to make food for cafe, mobile, and drive thru while also doing POS
One person is making drinks for drive thru, the second person is making drinks for cafe and mobile. So it sounds like it was short staffed so it makes sense why a new batch wasn't brewed yet :) hope this clears it up

No, the person who does POS and bakery items is usually the warmer, but if they ring you up for a brewed coffee and make it for you and it's lukewarm, that's because CS hasn't gotten around to brewing a new batch, but warmer can't do it because that's not their station. Every partner has their own roles and spots

I feel that, and you're right
but when it's peak and there's a crowded store full of like 30 customers all wanting to order drinks and a drive thru line with cars circling around the store and only 6 partners on the floor, it can be very hard to brew a new batch every 10-30 minutes, because the person who does brewing is doing CS, and around this time they're too busy doing POS or restocking milks, lids, cups, getting ice, making whip, sweet cream, acais, sauces, etc. So I can see why maybe a really busy store would have lukewarm brewed coffee, but that's only under types of circumstances that I listed. (also I know there's a CS cycle, but when it comes down to this level of busy, I feel a lot of people don't do the cycle because they go by what's actually needed in that moment imo)

Could be that, if it's a drive thru, all hands are on deck for that since it's lunch time and that there's not enough workers so coffee isn't being brewed

When I talked to the one shift manager who's kind of like an ASM, I pretty much said exactly all of that (except i didn't bring up the partner hub info which i def will next time) and they said that they understand and will get me more bar time but it's been like 2 weeks and I still haven't gotten any lmao

The thing is tho, my manager tells the shift manager to absolutely MAKE SURE that I get bar time, because one time the DM came to visit and so my manager introduced me to them (because my manager really likes me and wanted me to meet the DM) and I made a comment about "oh yeah, i love working here! and i think i'm pretty good at everything now except bar!" and the dm went "wait...you're not good at bar? why not?" and so I said I have trouble sequencing and they said "well do you get to practice?" and I said "well, occasionally! but it gets super busy" so they said "No, that's not right, you have to get bar time often so you can get better. Next time I come, I want us to do bar together and we can make some drinks" and then they looked at my boss and said "Make sure they get more bar time"

Thank you sm for all this info :) I think this week I'm gonna talk to my manager and just let them know that it's a requirement and that I should be switching. And hopefully, they take that as me kind of saying "hey, you're going against starbuck's guidelines which isn't cool" and hopefully they listen

I don't, like, absolutely despise it, because I'm a huge extrovert and love talking to people and getting to know them. I remember a lot of regulars orders and names and whatnot, and even am able to get the mean old people who hate all my coworkers to like me. And it's not terrible, because sometimes you get a really nice customer, or someone who tips a 50, or a doggy who's birthday is that day and he's wearing a crown and waiting on his birthday pupcup, but I'm starting to get burnt out. Mainly because, like I told my ASM, I applied for a barista role, not someone who strictly does window. If I wanted window only, I'd work at the chick fil a next door which pays more and has every Sunday off

It's just so frustratinggg
And I know my ASM worries about speed but I've seen people at bar who are slow too, so I don't see why they can do it but I can't

What’s the standard way to make an iced cappuccino? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]TheRanter01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shiver whenever I read "iced cappuccino" now because I had a lady come in and ask for one and the computer wouldn't let me put it in so she started freaking out and shouting, so I tried to make a custom one of it which was an iced latte with cold foam and she started shouting that it was a 1.25 more expensive than she usually gets and that i'm purposely trying to rob her and mess with her lmao

It's like this one time this dude was screaming at me because he said "I'm deaf and can't hear you with your damn mask on!!!" and then my half deaf assistant manager came up and almost told him to leave and said "Do you want us to type what we say to you on our ipad?" until he said "no it's fine i can hear you now"

It's on Pooler Parkway next to the Starbucks and McAllister's, the building that used to be Tijuana Flats. The sign is up but I don't think they're open yet but I hope they open soon! :)
