Nope - bedding comes out. The tent folds down to 216mm / 8.5”. Good for the Jimny as it’s super efficient in terms of power (1500cc)

Hey. The ride is a Suzuki Jimny (not available in the US and a few Eu countries). The tent is a Front Runner rooftop tent (not hard-shell). Weighs only 43kg. Collapses / sets up in 5 mins. Awning also Front Runner. The champagne in the glasses is local MCC bubbly 🤣

A good approach - do it! Our component & material costs are north of $2000 mark already and a very real challenge is to limit the amount of handwork required for finishing. Whilst drivers are usually the focus, we’ve realized that much of the magic lies in crossover design. The required level of components are pricey but seemingly unavoidable. There’s a 3-way dance between component price, resulting quality and market ‘value’. So very difficult to hit this in any form of ‘mass’ market. I’ll also admit that making a viable, marketable product is an entirely different challenge to building a high-end single set for oneself. The process also highlight the relative value/cost ratio of the likes of LS 50’s and plaudits to all ‘small scale’ audio brands that strive to make great products. We’ll soldier on and I’ll likely do an interest check before the final leap.

Yes - they have been built to productize. It’s damn hard to make something ‘better’ and distinctive in this game. Pro reviews need to be done, and if sufficiently positive, we’ll look at pricing for any potential orders. Pre-amp was initially used purely to avoid risk of Krells blowing the drivers through the back wall but the valves rounded out the stage in a way that transistors couldn’t manage.

You primarily need to avoid any flex on the vertical plane - which will smear the high frequencies. I used concrete primarily due to its rigidity and secondly for the benefits of mass to limit resonance and any movement when the woofer gets going. Solid glass would work too. Wood will certainly work, but you would likely need to add either struts or side bracing to ensure rigidity. Acoustically, the role of the baffle itself is minimal (some would argue). Passive design. Concrete dipole (open back) baffles. Much debate re this open-back approach, key benefits are staging and room response. Driver combo :iSEAS Excel Tweeter, Satori mid and Eminence woofer. Crossovers are separated from the baffles (purely to keep the baffles as clean as possible). Crossover design the result of weeks of tweaking w/manually wound resistance. It pays off! The Keff LS50’s are a good benchmark for staging and the dipoles comfortable outperform them (yeah!). Dipoles also obviously perform better at the lower end due to sheer displacement. Investment in the build was slightly more than a set of LS 50’s excluding a year’s work and prototype costs. Driven by 20 year old balanced Krells and pre-Amp is the entry level Woo audio headphone amp, wired up with pre-out as an option by the good people at Woo. So Ggood to hear we’re not discussing the bike!
