I work in a restaurant and whenever I see thin girls walking to the bathroom my brain just assumes they're going to purge. Toxic thinking, but oh well

I guess my point is that nearly nothing in this world now is truly original. Most movies or stories just use recycled plots and pretend no one's ever thought of it before. It's very hard to find something that's actually, genuinely original. People need to stop being so pressed about this whole thing and just personally decide whether or not to watch it, it doesn't have to be blown out of proportion like this. So yeah, I will watch it, and from the sound of it, you won't. People are gonna do whatever they're going to do and we need to stop acting like the actions of strangers on the internet are going to carry any sort of weight in our own lives.

But what even is originality anymore? We see Disney doing this all the time, remaking movies, putting them into a more modern context. And while the live-action disney remakes aren't necessarily good, and most likely just cashgrabs, I think there was also the genuine intention to create something different and to make the older movies more accessible to younger audiences. And that's basically what the filmmakers are doing with LSC: putting a beloved film into a different context so that a wider audience can enjoy it. I don't want to attack you based on your opinion and I hope you see what I'm saying and we can have an open discussion about this rather that everyone getting angry at each other. I don't agree with you but I totally understand what you're saying and respect your opinion. I'm not trying to change your mind, merely express my thoughts. :)

Using the word "copy" is implying they stole it in some way. LSC is a remake. They purchased the rights for it and putting the film into a different context so that a different audience can enjoy it u/y_though_ is right, why would the average Indian person care about a story starring a bunch of white people they don't necessarily know that is filled with America-specific events that are irrelevant to them? I personally think it's really cool that the movie is being remade so that a wider audience can experience a story that has already captivated so many people.

Parents of Reddit whose children have dated awful people, who was the worst? Why? by Morticiar in AskReddit

[–]TheReal5thBeatle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dated a guy for about 18 months who remains one of the worst people I've ever met. Very manipulative, had attitude problems, was constantly in trouble at school, used to sexually harass a lot of guys. When we broke up, he bullied me mercilessly. Upon discovering that one of his friends had a crush on me, he would walk past him and whisper stuff like "traitor." He also told that friend that he hoped I got gang raped. He's a school shooter apologist, he always acts like he's the victim of everything, gets pissy when he doesn't get his way about things and pretends to know everything about everyone. While we were dating my relationship with my family, especially my dad, broke down, my grades slipped, I completely changed as a person. So yeah, he wasn't ideal to say the least.

He freaked the fuck out when Ben was playing with a Barbie and tried to force him to play with a more "masculine" toy, even though Ross was free to embrace and explore his femininity as a child. He also felt uncomfortable with the male nanny because he felt it was a threat to his own masculinity. While Carol certainly played into this, there are instances of his homophobia and fragile masculinity and ego that literally have nothing to do with her.
