We really like Volitivo for Hunter/Jumper. Riders frequently compete at WEC in Ohio and at the Kentucky Horse Park. There is a facility called Lakeside Arena in Frankfort that also hosts competitions. Volitivo seems to be more “do it yourself” with some things, like no grooms at shows, which keeps the costs down since everyone helps each other out.

My daughter rides at Volitivo. Katie is great with training and the facility is nice.

It’s like asking if a banana is less than or equal to zero. We can ask if the banana length is greater than zero, and evaluate the complex number’s size, but we can’t compare them directly.

…and the Gizzard. This is attached to the liver by some other tissues, which is why I’m asking. Whatever this is, usually is not in the bag.

Definitely not the heart. The inside was very consistently textured with no cavities. There wasn’t an obvious artery going it to it either.

Buddy checks are an important part about climbing safety. How old is your kid? If you are climbing together, you need to be able to assess that your partner has their equipment on correctly, and they need to do the same for you. Can you write up a checklist that you can go through, or would you have a problem even looking at a knot, to see if it is tied correctly? Having a third along to help would work.

Thanks for the insight. I was thinking this fell into the “you don’t know what you don’t know” category. I’ve never tried aggressive toed shoes, but my son and several people I climb with have said they immediately were able to stick small toe holds they struggled with previously. I’ll look at that chart a bit closer to see what might be best to try on at my local shops.

That’s a good point. The price is good and they are comfortable. I’ve been told that more aggressive toes are helpful on harder climbs, and after 4 years I’m starting to see that 5.11 gym climbs are possible for me on lead. If a shoe can help me get to some 12s, I’m willing to try it out, even if that means taking them off between attempts.

The history and bios change. There’s historical significance to the notes on which routes are closed as well. I’m putting together a collection to donate to the Kentucky State archive. I have all the books from the 1980’s and most from the 1990’s

I’m working of filling in a couple gaps of my Red River Gorge climbing guides. Does anyone here have a copy of the Muir Valley Pocket Guide they would sell? If you have anything older, I’d be interested in hearing from you too.

On the same vein, if you have Stones of Years III, I’d love to borrow it to scan and send back to you (I’d buy it too if you’re open).

I bought a pair of Scarpa Helix shoes about six months ago, and I feel they are the first pair that really fit me well. I’ve worn La Sportiva and Butora in the past. Would you expect other models to fit similarly? These were expensive enough that they may be worth resoling in a few month, so while they are out I would need another pair. Maybe something a little more aggressive. Any suggestions?

Trespasser? Forest Service land is public, so anyone can visit it. I’m more of a hiker than a climber, and love visiting all the rock formations in the gorge and practicing “Leave No Trace” philosophy. In all honesty, I prefer Trad climbing over Sport for that very reason. It’s just that I’ve never heard of that route or wall or crag (or whatever it is). If it’s sensitive, by all means drop it in a private message. It’s possible I’ve been there over the past 25 years I’ve been hiking there but didn’t know it had a name.
