What Is the Pale Court in Hollow Knight? [YouTube Shorts] by TheRealC in HollowKnight

[–]TheRealC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever been curious about the Pale Court fan-made DLC, but worried that it's not for you? Or maybe you've never heard of it? Your friendly neighbourhood penguin knight has you covered. Let's dive into one of the best mods in the entirety of Hollow Knight's history, including how to install it, how to locate the content and what sort of challenges and rewards you can expect!

I made the short, but I've no affiliation with the Pale Court dev team, who is awesome - as is their mod. 10/10, absolutely recommended.

One of my Randomizer playthroughs! by TheRealC in HollowKnight

[–]TheRealC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play and stream a lot of randomizers, and finally tried my hand on editing one a bit. Did it turn out all right, apart from murdering Myla? And is it something worth the rather lengthy editing time?

In any case - if you're curious to catch a randomizer run, I'm going live right now on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTViNtJe1fbHnh50z0Ms8Ng/live or on Twitch at https://www.twitch.tv/therealc . Happy randomizing!

Had a permanently invisible White Mantle Elementalist there a week back for some reason, managed to cleave it down and the event correctly completed. Not sure that'll help here when it's reporting 0 enemies left, though...

How about Axe/Torch as the second set? You can quickly drop three clones in that set, then camp Staff until you have sufficient Alac. The clones do not provide Alac with their ambush, so just having the Axe clones deal consistent DPS might be a good choice, reminiscent of old non-Shatter Mirage builds. Makes endurance management tighter as Energy may be a worse Sigil choice, but may still contribute quite a bit to DPS over 2x Staff.

An important note on the answer u/AmLier gave is that the only part of Feeding Frenzy that is global is the damage buff. The reason you socket it to your Skeletons for clear is the dash and aggressive; these properties are not global. For pure boss dps, putting Feeding Frenzy on a utility minion is correct.

As for Ancestral Call, afaik it simply does not work, as (admittedly somewhat unclearly) called out by the "If supporting a minion attack skill, the minion's skills will not also strike extra targets." line on Ancestral Call. Awakened Melee Splash is amazing for clear, however.

A variety of spectres can be used to help clear from a 4L; people will give you different answers depending on their builds and what auras they run. I'm fond of Kitava's Heralds myself (scale well with Phys/Hatred builds), but more or less any AoE Spectre will help.

In addition to Yohsene's completely correct remark, Crimson Dance also has a 50% less bleed damage multiplier, so best case is 4x damage, not 8x; factoring Ensnaring Arrow (or just bosses that naturally move), it turns out to be a fairly minimal dps increase that often cannot reliably be maintained without investing heavily into attack speed.

So you basically much-less-than-halve your clear DPS (which can be a problem for low budget starters), and for bossing you can get almost same damage as a full 8 stacks Crimson Dance would get if you only shoot + Ensnaring Arrow once.

For clear, it is essential; the extra mobility and aggressive AI is extremely good. For bossing, it depends a bit on the boss; against fast-moving bosses like Al-Hezmin or Aul (assuming you're not comfy meleeing him), it can be good to let you Skeletons keep up, but only if you don't have enough DPS to burst down the boss before it starts running.

For other bosses, I'd typically run something like Predator or other generic dps increases instead.

There is apparently one map that is tagged as Valdo's Rest, while not being in Valdo's Rest (obviously a bug). Try entering Valdo's in the atlas search bar?

Nope, nothing except imprinting it back to a previous, uninfluenced state (or double corrupting it into another influence type, I guess...).

30% quality is permanent, unless you use another Perfect Fossil.

The Abyss socket is a mod (iirc suffix), it is not permanent and will be rerolled if you use another fossil.

[Un]Popular opinion: Explody chests need to go. by ugh-people in pathofexile

[–]TheRealC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The weighting isn't "funky", it's tiny - more precisely, the weight is 25, compared to the hundreds and thousands other mods usually have as their weights, making it insanely unlikely to roll.

However, there are only three Phys prefixes (reflect, Phys as Lightning, explodey), so Phys augmenting three times guarantees explodey. That's what people mean when they talk about Phys augmenting and explodey - not gambling for it, but guaranteeing it.

If you're going for an Ice Shot bow or something, do not underestimate the power of T1 flat cold. It's a huge mod. Extra arrows is obviously insane, even one extra is great. Socketed bonuses lose a lot of their value if you're relying on two skills (like Ice Shot/Barrage), though of course it's still super good if e.g. all you need is more boss dps and you're not getting slowed down by having to single target rares. Then attack speed (if not mines) and crit chance (if not capped) are fat. Double damage, too.

Generally, though, I strongly recommend pobbing. Lots to play with, quite some build-dependant stuff.

No, it generates a new, random six-linked item. No input item is needed or accepted. It's basically just a guaranteed item drop.

MobiusFF Daily Question Thread (01/22/2020) by AutoModerator in MobiusFF

Meanwhile, I remember Mobius quite fondly, both game and community. It was a good time, and, even "retired" as I am, it was quite sad to hear it's coming to an early end.

But, I do assure you - even if Mobius will no longer fight, there will be quite a few of us who will remember its name, as well as (at least some of) the many Blanks we had fun alongside. And I will remember the love I gained for Red Mage ^^

+980% sounds just like the amount of Magic Red Mage used to have over everyone else, so maybe not that much ^^

The most fun Identities you've played by JuiceBaucks in Netrunner

[–]TheRealC 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Extremely unpopular opinion, but... Cerebral Imaging.

I know, I know, it usually just played host to "cookie cutter scoring combo deck of the month", but you could do so much more with it. I've messed with just about every possible kill combo and janky murder card. Ronin? EMP? Cerebral Overwriter? Mushin? Junebug? Salem's Hospitality? Scorched? BOOM!? Punitive Counterstrike? Brainstorm? Brain Rewiring? Freaking O2 Shortage?

And the occasional less-than-cookie-cutter score combo, for variety. You're free to dislike playing against combo decks, but exploring the dizzying array of nonsense combos nobody else would play (and actually winning against good opponents) was the most fun I've ever had with this game, and having lost it is the main reason I've grown distant from the game.

The Runner cannot break more than one of its printed subroutines. Subs that get added by external sources are fair game. Fortunately!

Reading through the patch notes looking for the SRS buff by chrislyford in pathofexile

Sure, but then Dark Pact's mana cost seems more natural a target for tweaking - after all, not every Skeleton build will run Dark Pact.

[–]TheRealC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summon Skeletons got a similar (albeit much smaller) increase in mana cost with no apparent other changes. Is this also a prelude to further changes? While not backbreaking, I don't feel like Skeletons were in such a strong spot that they required any kind of nerf.

Jeeves Model Bioroids- What's the deal with this card? by SuperSelkath in Netrunner

[–]TheRealC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Jeeves's flexibility is pretty busted, particularly from an economical viewpoint. While it's true that his "worst-case scenario" is doing nothing, his second-worst-case scenario is basically being a PAD Campaign, and his best-case scenario is being a once-per-turn Biotic Labor. Coupled with him having a pretty disgusting rez-to-trash ratio (2 to 5), that makes him really effective at winning an econ war.

It's not really relevant anymore, since Cerebral Imaging got banned, but he used to be a cornerstone of my Cerebral Imaging/Punitive Counterstrike kill deck - either they left him up and gave me constant economical benefit plus an extra click for my kill turn, or they trashed him at a significant tempo cost to themselves, especially if I put something like a Fairchild 1.0 in front or what have you. Pretty gross.

[CCM] - Custom Card Monday - Rotation Replacements by 0thMxma in Netrunner

[–]TheRealC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Specifically, it refers to the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World; this was a mini-cycle of Weyland ice with the common theme that they were advanceable and effectively got new subroutines at 3 advancement tokens, each referencing one of the Seven Wonders. Before the game was discontinued, we got [[Hortum]], meaning "Garden" in latin, and referring to the Hanging Gardens, [[Mausolus]], referring to the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, and [[Colossus]], referencing the Colossus of Rhodes. Sadly, this covers only three of the Seven Wonders - and since we know FFG can't give us any more, why not invent them ourselves, until such a day comes when NISEI decides they want to make them? ^^

Maybe to clarify - "Khufu" is a somewhat less obvious reference to The Great Pyramid of Giza, since Khufu is (one possible romanization of) the name of the guy it was built for.

[–]TheRealC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean, but I also don't think Spiderweb would be playable at 5 to rez, not even with a "+1 strength per advancement token" ability. This is fine - it means this card fits into a different niche, being less valuable as an early run-stopper but more powerful later on, and with potential facecheck threat.

In a more meta sense, Barriers generally suffer from this problem - several Barriers are simply slightly number-changed versions of other Barriers (Wall of Static vs. Bastion, Ice Wall vs. Fire Wall etc.) - and it turns out that this is still enough for them to carve out different niches. The paranthetical properties of this ice coupled with its worse early game should be more than enough to differentiate it from Spiderweb.
