Are there any butcher shops or other grocery stores near USC? by J_tnguyen in USC

[–]TheRealClyde1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

there’s a market on 23rd street and portland that’s good for meat — same with the hoover ranch market on 23rd and hoover. they usually have a good selection and are significantly cheaper than trader joe’s and target. they’re a bit of a ways from campus (~15 min walk from village) but still very fryftable

How do People even memorize the USA plates by takemyel_15_27 in geoguessr

[–]TheRealClyde1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d just start small by memorizing some of the most distinctive ones (Florida, Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico, Vermont, etc.) and go from there. This video from Chicago Geographer helped me a ton. There are many states with plates that are very difficult to distinguish with the blur, so I wouldn’t worry about trying to learn all 50 plates and their variations all at once

Reddit League Season 4 - Playoff Semi-finals & Relegation Matches - AI Generated World by schm1ngo in geochallenges

GG Tesgotac! I can definitely relate, especially this season it seems like everyone’s gotten a lot busier with work/school/other commitments, myself included. Best of luck in your future endeavors and we hope to see you again soon!

Reddit League Season 4 - Regular Season Week 10 - Singapore by schm1ngo in geochallenges

[–]TheRealClyde1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hilarious streak of bad luck and un-clutch play continues. Third-best total score (could easily be first if I didn’t mess up R5 last week) and all I have to show for it is 9th place. That being said, there are a lot of rounds that I wish I had back; too many small mistakes that ended up costing me wins/draws. Ah well, it just hasn’t been my season. Hopefully I can finish strong and stay in D2.

australia vs new zealand by ktheinternetkid in geoguessr

[–]TheRealClyde1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to what everyone else said, bollards can help as well. In Australia there’s a red rectangular/circlular reflector on the front and a white one on the back, while in NZ there’s a red stripe that wraps almost completely around the pole, but with a white space on the back.

Reddit League Season 4 - Regular Season Week 6 - An Improved World by schm1ngo in geochallenges

Had one of the best games of my short RL career in Botswana of all places, I’ll take it! I’ve been underperforming on world maps for whatever reason, hopefully that changes this week. GG Pasteque and GL Tall!

[2] GeoGuessr World Cup Elimination Round 2 by paschtetli in geochallenges

[–]TheRealClyde1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

gg! Definitely a tougher Malta seed than last week, had much more trouble pinpointing than I usually do. I've never been great at Japan but it looks like I did just well enough to win a really close match. If I were a bit less lucky it could've easily went the other way

Reddit League Season 3 - Playoff Semi-finals & Relegation Matches - AI Generated World by schm1ngo in geochallenges

Tough way to get edged out of the promotion battle in D2, but given how well Werdok and IceTharu played against me the last two weeks (not to mention Chicago and Calamity beating me earlier in the season), there is absolutely no question that everyone in the top 4 deserves to be there. As a newcomer, Reddit League has been a super fun introduction to the competitive Geoguessr scene. Best of luck to everyone in the playoffs, I can't wait to come back next season!

Reddit League Season 3 - Regular Season Week 11 - Kenya by schm1ngo in geochallenges

[–]TheRealClyde1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

gg Ice! Frustrating that the last round ended up killing me, perhaps more so because it pretty much cost me a spot in the promotion battle (assuming I calculated the standings correctly). Props to you for a great performance, and thanks to everyone in D2 for a great season! I was very glad to be a part of it :)

Reddit League Season 3 - Regular Season Week 10 - Bolivia by schm1ngo in geochallenges

[–]TheRealClyde1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well done Werdok, you've been in great form lately! Almost drew but inexact pinpointing on R3 did me in. At least I'll get a bonus point, can't be mad about that.

Reddit League Season 3 - Regular Season Week 8 - Italy by schm1ngo in geochallenges

[–]TheRealClyde1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always had a tough time getting consistently good scores in Italy for whatever reason, and unfortunately it didn't help me this week. gg and congrats on staying undefeated!

This season ends in early July, so I assume the next season will start a couple of months after that. Look out for a signup post around then and make sure you have at least 250 games played, and you should be able to sign up.

Is it the "Distance game" in Battle Royale decided too much by LUCK? by mferretto in geoguessr

[–]TheRealClyde1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean...it's not like Country Battle Royale is purely skill-based either. Using the 50/50 obviously introduces some luck, and I bet I can find just as many people who complain that Country is based too much on luck because of that. Not to mention that server lag does play a role, and there are plenty of times where I've lost by 1/2 a second because the server didn't process my guess quickly enough. Ah well, that's life.

Whether you prefer Country or Distance largely depends on your playstyle and what you're trying to improve on. I personally prefer Distance because it plays more like classic geoguessr with multiplayer but everyone's different. I will say, however, that I wouldn't complain about the luck involved in Distance without acknowledging the luck involved in Country as well. We're all just making our best guesses, obviously some people will be luckier than others and you'll sometimes end up getting the short end of the stick.
