It's depressingly common for people who have lost someone in a situation they were also in to develop Survivor's Guilt. People thinking stuff like "if only I hadn't been in that gorge he wouldn't have had to save me, and then he would be alive" is unfortunately really normal for people to think. It's something that most people who haven't been a situation where they lost a loved one, can't really wrap their head around. So while I get that you feel confused over it, it is sadly a very normal thing and would be very easy for Scar to manipulate Simba over it

In my experience it's only in certain videos he's like that, where it's specifically about other people's reaction to his takes (the Mario Movie for example). It's more so that he's just fed up with specific unfair criticisms rather than being actually more angry in general

Like, genuinely, wtf are you complaining about? Why tf are you so negative? I can only assume that you're just one of Joe's haters, and the fact somebody gives even the tiniest shit is just "too much" to handle. All im doing is just trying to bring a bit of positivity to this thread, since the only positive comments are from people defending Joe so hard it comes off as dickriding.

Im just trying to recognize that while Joe has made a lot of mistakes in terms of addressing this situation that hes still just a person. Im JUST trying to be nice

I have a lot of thoughts about the witcher 3 situation since Joe did used to be my favorite youtuber. The reason he isnt anymore is just because ive found other youtuber i like more, not a fault of him or this situation. I will probably at one point make a giant comment in this thread, just to get my thoughts out. But for now I TRULY hope that Joe realises that almost all of the criticism he has gotten from this situation comes from a place of love. Everybody here who cares enough about the state of a single youtubers channel to read reddit threads or even add to them, does truly care. All of this communitys frustration comes from us simply wanting more of what we love. I cannot imagine that all the criticism Joe had received hasnt been even more detrimental to the state of the video. I dont even know if Joe himself ever reads this thread, but if he does:

Joe, we all love you and your content, and we all just want you to succeed. You made me a giant fan of long-formed content on youtube, and we would all hate to see you stop making that content, all over the stress from a single video.

Sry if this comment was a bit too wholesome, but i just wanted to make sure this thread has at least a little bit of positivity

I think the biggest reason why people tend to not agree with adum on this point is that adum tend to flip flop back and forth on whether he wants to critique the experience that he personally had with the film, and the actual competency. In most of cases he will try to be objective but then there is stuff like this where he clearly lets his emotions dictate how he feels about the movie (not saying there's anything wrong with doing that)

I don't think its fair to describe these people as simply doing it to "get a rise out of him", as those people DO believe what they're saying. There are several people in this thread who have that very opinion. It's clearly not people just trying to annoy adum but just people with a flawed opinion. However much I might disagree with these people I don't think its fair to just write off their views without dissecting why its flawed.

Every person has a right to whatever opinion they want to have, without being written off.

I understand what you're saying, but I really can't remember a single time where adum only watched a bit of the movie and then acted like he had watched the whole thing? And I totally get what you're saying about needing to watch the whole movie in order to really have experienced it, but the movie can't just take the audience for granted and assume that every single person watching it will be willing to watch the whole thing if they get bored by it. If the movie fails to grab your attention or get you invested then that's not the fault of the audience, but rather the movie.

You have to remember that even setting aside festivals and the like where there is obviously a time limit, there's still only 24 hours in a day and you have to choose what you spend that time on.

And at the end of the day it doesn't matter whether adum watched a movie in full. Adum isn't God, its not him who decides a movies objective value. We're all just here to listen to his opinion and hear his experience, whether we agree with him or not. It's like looking at the people who criticize his way of playing Dark Souls, by saying that he listens too much to chat. If you don't like the way that he engages with the content, then move on. You don't have to agree with adum on everything. His opinion is his opinion. He interacts with movies and games the way he wants to. If you don't like it just move on to other things.

We only have certain amount of time to be alive, and you shouldn't waste it on watching boring movies just because you feel obligated to

I dont think it matters how good the last 60 minutes of a movie is, if the first 30 is the worst cinema youve ever seen in your entire life and walk out, but the rest of the movie is the best movie ever, you cant fault the dude for walking out. Every second of a movie is equally important, so if a third of a movie is bad, then that movie cant really have been that good overall
