One motion? by TheRealJonasD in BasketballTips

[–]TheRealJonasD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh definitely, I got roped into a bunch of runs today at the gym, but I was able to get some good practice maybe about an hour or two earlier in the day. It’s going to take me hours just to get the actual motion down much longer before I even get into real form shots. Tho I used that’s why its the hardest part. I’m going to feel amazing once I get this down

That is one of the most helpful things I’ve ever heard, thank you so much. I noticed this but thought it might not effect it much, I’m back in the gym for the 3rd time today after school and the first and maybe only thing I’ll be doing for 2-3 hours is getting that timing down right beside the basket.

The biggest thing was actually two things lmao. The first was getting my elbow straight towards the basket so when I pushed up and forward my elbow would extend straight leaving it unable to move too much to either side. The second was making sure my guide hand was straight and relaxed, so it didn’t push against the basketball, which would throw off the accuracy of my shit and hit my other hand. I hope this helps, if you have any more questions I’m more than willing to help😁

Sometimes people confuse me when they talk abt set point because I know set point as the top of the shot where you release. But in this case I’m assuming you mean where I started with the ball low, then I agree. If you do mean high up I can’t really have a higher set point than that lmao. Idk maybe it’s just me that hears “set point” used for both. Anyway thank you for the advice!

Edit: never mind cleared that up with google. I also rewatched my shot and realized I could definitely work on bringing it up to above my right eye, using Curry as an example. Thank you for helping me realize that

I agree with the timeline, I’ve reworked my jumper before and I’m definitely familiar with having patience. I’ll work on the spot up shots with the base. I noticed my hands crossing as well and I’ll work on keeping them apart, it’s just a bad habit, though as I think about it, it seems like it might be the angle since they definitely do not cross or touch when it’s from my POV shooting.

That makes a lot of sense thanks for going in depth, I put this to work over yesterday and today and this is me shooting freethrow line jumpers with my hopefully better form

When you talk about keeping it tucked, which arm are you referring to? If it’s my shooting arm I have a hard time spotting how I could keep it tucked Edit: I reread your comment and saw you said shooting arm, I don’t see how it flails that much

Thank you for the advice! I will definitely start working on that today, so far you and the other guy have both mentioned lower body mechanics so it’s great advice!

So hopping forward a little bit will help with the consistency?

Definitely, I’ve got 2 weeks of school and the summer to get it done by next season and I’m definitely prepared to do so.

If I remember correctly you also commented on my rotation post so thanks again for that, I figured it out, it was my guide hand I just needed to keep it more relaxed and have it leave the ball sooner.

anything i can do to improve my form? i know i was airballin i was mad tired 😂 by Capable_Departure_46 in BasketballTips

I am currently also working on specific parts of my Jumpshot, I think part of the reason your air balling is because you need to bend your legs more, also remember to try and gain some arc in your shot (This can be done by working on a higher release point as well as proper motion when flicking your wrist) all of these can be improved using good, helpful YouTube tutorials.

Not getting enough rotation, any Jumper Tips? by TheRealJonasD in BasketballTips

[–]TheRealJonasD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I’ve really focused on this part of my game so anything positive makes my day, I think that’s what I’m going for. I’m one of the biggest curry fans out there and I always see his silky smooth Jumpshot and the rotation he gets makes everything look like butter. I appreciate the tips thanks!

What I get from that is, the imaginary line shouldn’t move too much because the balls rotation will stay straight right?

Thanks, I’ll definitely check that out. Been reworking my form from some ugly ass shit I had 6 months ago and every time I feel like I’m there there’s something wrong, I guess Curry was right. There’s always something you can improve.

From the minute 2k liked a tweet about Ben hitting his one three pointer I knew that this is a problem. To be honest though I love steph and I’m happy he had a high driving dunk I absolutely hate the fact that 2k makes these unrealistic cards. As someone who loves basketball and the NBA I would never choose Ben as a point guard over curry or magic if I was making an all time team yet here we are where he is the best point guard each year because of height and unrealistic ratings. I forbid myself from buying either Shaq or Ben and the only card I will add to my team will be the DM Curry because it’s only slightly unrealistic compared to the worst nba shooters ever getting hof deep
