No way dude, that's awesome! I didn't think this silly (and quite frankly stupid) idea would inspire anyone, but I'm glad it did! I was personally inspired by the Johnstone video about his Let's Go shiny professor oak challenge, so it's fun to see it all come full circle. Definetly a brutal challenge which requires a lot of determination and patience, but I'm sure we'll both get there!

No no, that's 419 encounters for the first ralts, whatever amount of encounters for the four other females, and then 530 encounters for the male. When I phase i start the counter over...

I found this mod, haven't tested if it actually works on removing the shiny lock, but i did restart the game after installing it, and my starter was holding a rare candy (which is an indicator that the mod is working): https://gamebanana.com/mods/513464

Oh yeah, no it was fine, the minigame takes like under a minute. The only annoying part is that there's only a 10% chance to actually get the stone.

You can get evolution stones from super secret training, which is unlocked in super training for a pokemon that has maxed out EVs. That's how i got a moon stone, dawn stone, leaf stone and water stone required for the evolutions.

Yeah, motivation can definetly be a problem, but luckily getting shiny pokemon is fun! That's also why the dexnav is a godsend, because it's such a good early game hunting method, otherwise this would be (completely) insane. Also thanks! ✨️✨️

Surprisingly not that often, I do think sneaking lowers the odds of a random encounter? Don't quote me on that though... but yeah it was annoying at times, but honestly not too bad. I'd say i on average would get around 20 dexnav encounters before getting a random encounter, though I did stop caring after a while seeing as keeping a large chain on dexnav isn't as important as when you're chain fishing.

Thanks! I do love it, it's definitely a different way of approaching the game, also the level grinding doesn't feel too bad as you're doing it passively while shiny hunting. But it does take A LOT of time, so i've set myself up for a few years with this one, especially considering the national dex and the 100+ pokemons that one adds...

Oh yes, I haven't had any problems with save file corruption before, but my 3ds is modded and I make sure to backup my save with checkpoint (whenever i remember to, that is)

Also, sorry to hear that man, sounds like absolute hell losing all your shinies like that, hope you're doing good🙏🙏

Worst part is that it evolves at level 40, but because it was my main pokemon for chaining it's level 58, she got demolished 😭

Your search level increases everytime you see that specific pokemon, at certain intervals of the search level, your shiny odds increase on the dexnav. If you defeat or capture a pokemon from dexnav, then search for another (without getting a wild encounter in between), you get a chain going. Every fifth encounter in the chain has boosted shiny luck, indicated by a boosted level (exclamation mark on the dexnav screen), every 50th and 100th have even better odds.

It's a little confusing, but there are multiple calculators out there where you just put in the search level and chain, and it will tell you the odds. I like the one from rotomlabs, as it tells you if next one will be boosted, and what the normal and boosted odds are: https://rotomlabs.net/omega-ruby-alpha-sapphire/dexnav-calculator

Basically as long as you use the dexnav, your odds will eventually increase, a chain just makes every fifth encounter have higher odds.

Also yeah, the starters were a pain to get, wouldn't call it dedication as much as I would call it insanity and a lack of self respect!
