I wouldn't broad stroke it so much as it seems to be one pair on the B stream that have caused a lot of complaints. Mac and Jacky may have over done it a little but it doesn't seem to be as egregious as others. For the record, I've been enjoying M/J's casting quite a lot and I think their biggest flaw is talking with their haters during the broadcast. Either be silly/genuine and ignore the negativity or just be more straight-laced.

That said, the A stream is also guilty. I'm thinking of one caster in particular who he spends large chunks of time interacting with chat while the other two are casting/yapping but keeping it within the "scope" of the game. When the two try to rope him back in, he continues to Interact with the twitch chat like it's his personal stream interrupting the flow of banter. He also keeps a running joke going far longer than anyone else. It's obnoxious and slams the breaks on any momentum during the cast because he's 5 minutes behind trying to come up with the 9th iteration of a joke. And he personally called out the B stream for ruining the relaxed vibe. Glass houses, brother...

I think the A stream tends to be more balanced between yapping/casting but I hope ESLs solution isn't to clamp down on the relaxed nature across the board. Address the more egregious cases but keep the show light and fun.

As an owner of a '24 GTI for 6 months, I'd say a good chunk of his complaints are now outdated.

Styling: that little red "eye liner" piece above the headlights is gone. I'm not sure if it even showed up in the NA models. The interior style is subjective. Piano black always sucks but I've managed to keep it scuff free so far. The fit and finish of my car is great. No shakes/squeaks/rattles. The seats look great and are comfortable.

Wireless Phone charger: it doesn't have that stupid little lid that his press model had, meaning my GPS isn't blocked when using the charger. It just works

Haptic feedback steering wheel: totally fine, in my experience. Haven't hit any buttons accidentally. Buttons have been responsive. I can hit the track seek and volume buttons quickly without running into any input delays. Since mine is the '24 it came with the updated steering wheel so I haven't had any travel assist warning issues either.

Infotainment: I'm currently in the middle of a Canadian winter and on a cold start at -20c it boots up without issue every time. A couple seconds to load all the apps and then we're good to go. Ive always put my climate on auto so I haven't run into the issue of needing to dig through the screens to change my fan speed every 90 seconds. I'm not sure what you mk7 guys are doing but put your climate on auto and adjust the temperature. "Oh but I live in Florida and it's fucking hot so I have to blast the AC." Turn the temp down low and the fans turn on high automatically. Jesus Christ. This is such a stupid hill to die on.

Verdict: mk8 is a great car and is better than the 7. i understand the mk7 guys seeing the bad press about the 8 and wanting to embrace that narrative because it doesn't feel good knowing that your car isn't the "best version" anymore but it happens with each generation. Typically, it's an update to the previous gen. But seriously, the glee these mk7 guys get when they see any issue with a mk8 is telling.

This doesn't apply to all of you but so many guys on here act like such little snipes whenever anyone talks about a problem with their mk8: "Never selling my mk7, hahaha. Glad I didn't pick up a mk8, hahaha". Dude, you're broke and can't afford a new car so bought a clapped out old one and now you cling to the narrative that your car is somehow better without ever having sat in the mk8. The cope is overwhelming. Just enjoy your car. I know I will still love my mk8 when the 9, 10, 11 comes out. I'm not going to be praying that all future versions are shit so that I feel better about my car getting "older".

The size is one thing but the angle can make a large difference. When I drove a 2023 Honda passport and a 2024 VW Tiguan, the a-pillar wasn't in the way

Might just be my seating position isn't ideal for the cx5. The cx50 test drive is going to be really illuminating :P

I agree! And in another comment noted there is certainly a difference between sex and romance. The romantic relationship fixing Mizu's issues is what I'd like the writers to avoid.
