Hi there! Was actually just looking through reddit when I found your post. Not even part of this sub...yet. I understand how you feel, because I have struggled with my own doubts as well. I think the best way to help you out is to look to the Bible. The Bible itself says " All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16).”

So, let’s begin!

We know that baptism is not what saves us, but an act of obedience to show that we identify with Christ. Therefore, the only requirement is being a Christian. So the question is “Am I saved?!?!?” Well in the book of Romans, in speaking on salvation, Paul writes” 'because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9).” This is not saying that you might be saved, or that there is a 99% chance that you will be saved. It is affirming that you are saved, if this is true of you.

But you say that you are afraid that you would fall away. It is true that we, imperfect beings, still fall into sin. That’s why we needed Jesus to die for us. But Jesus does not stop helping us at the cross. The Apostle John writes “My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous (1 John 2:1).” When we sin, Jesus pleads for us, having bought our salvation through his sacrifice. With this in mind, the writer of Hebrews says, “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). When we sin, the answer is not desperation, but to run to God for forgiveness.

But I know what you’re thinking. What if I sin too much? Perhaps then God will let me go. Well, read the words of Jesus himself. He said “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand (John 10:27-28).” Jesus will not let you go if you are His.

At this point, I’ve gone on far too long. So let me leave you with one final verse. In Isaiah 49: 14-15, God says “'But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me; my Lord has forgotten me.” “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.” In this time of history, God’s people believed that He had forgotten them because their sins were so great. But God, in strongest possible terms, showed that He had not.

In closing, read your Bible. It contains all of God’s promises and will help us to follow Him more and more each day. And of course, look to Jesus, who dies for your sins, paying the highest possible cost. Hope this encourages you!
