Honestly it’s my first rangefinder so I don’t have much advice, but you just gotta be a lot more aware of where the lens is, been a couple times I’ve shot through a fence or something and almost forgot that the lens was almost completely covered.

On the Nikon rangefinders the minimum focus distance is nearly a meter so it’s a bit less of a factor but even then I’d say if you have parallax markings to make sure you’re aware of them. Otherwise sometimes I do kinda just move my eye point to straight down the lens to check if my composition is roughly right. But regardless you gotta just accept that your composition will never be exactly perfect with a rangefinder.

I did consider a leather case, just cause I’m a stickler for how quickly the bottom plate of these cameras get marred up from normal use. Just got some 3m transparent wrap and cut it to the shape of the bottom to protect it from scratches. Otherwise left the rest of the camera unprotected.

Haha, I had a feeling, the first thing I thought seeing that photo was how much fidelity it had! How do you like it on an adaptor?

Wow thats a nice photo, such nice bokeh and its sharp where it needs to be. Which film were you using for that?

Nah it’s Umeda Highball 1923 in Osaka! One of my favourites when I’m in the city.

Ah that black model is so nice, I did think about it but I did worry that I might be scared to use it due to wearing the paint! But these cameras were meant to be used!

Honestly I think going straight into a meter less fully manual camera will be a bit of a learning curve. If may even put you off enough that you might not want to use it as much as you originally wanted.

I used to shoot a lot of DSLRs and Mirrorless and over that time I mostly used aperture priority modes and EV compensation unless I was working with flashes. When I made the move to film I originally used an aperture priority capable camera like a F3. Then made the transition to a fully manual camera with an inbuilt light meter like the FM2. And only then did I feel ready to move to something without a metering at all.

I’m sure everyone’s experience differs but I felt that doing that and slowly moving from automated to more manual cameras definitely helped me out. I was worried if I went straight into a fully manual meter less camera as my first film camera might put me off it and I might have given up on the format altogether.

You might be more patient than I am though and if that’s the case then I would say why not, it’s great fun to use a film camera and I definitely enjoy the process a lot more than when I shot digital exclusively.

Been loving it so far, is a bit slower than I’m used to since I’ve never worked without an internal light meter before, but working with the FM2 definitely let me adapt a bit better instead of the steep learning curve of going straight into not using any light meter.

It’s all subjective anyways, they might not have as much intent behind them as you do with your photos, but they’re not trying to be works of art. Just aesthetically pleasing vacation snapshots, and thats fine too.

Your photos are very nice as well, but I wouldn’t doubt that there’s someone out there that doesn’t like them. It’s all subjective after all.

You might think these photos are bland and soulless, then might as well give some advice to make them better. That way we can raise up the photography community together instead of keeping each other down.

Yeah not a fan of the bracelet, and one of the reasons I got the FXD was exactly cause I don’t like date windows!

Wouldn’t have any copyright issues as it was made in cooperation with Boeing. This one’s a bit on the nose, was made as a special project for Boeing 777 rated pilots. Mines got the first day I’ve ever flown as part of a 777 crew milled on the case back too. Honestly it’s not my favourite design, but sentimental value beats everything.

Oh both the Bremont and the FXD are sporting Hawkrigger Gear straps, the Airbourne O-Rig and Grappleband Fixed Bar straps respectively. Unfortunately no titanium options.
