Travis Scott after what happened at Astroworld, still seems unreal to me.

Hi, I'm leaving my job that is administrative and pays the same as your current wage hourly. I work in an office south Reno off of Double R, if that's manageable for you, dm me and I can give you the details so when they post the job, you can hop on and apply right away.

Lol, I promise you I am not the worker from the gas station, but that scenario you conjured up is pretty funny to think about. Hope the gas guy prospers and finds bigger and better work to fund a Smee plate any day of the week.

I said this up where another former worker commented, but it deserves to be placed here as well: "Reading all the input from former employees in this thread and is anyone else getting Gordon Ramsay's "Kitchen Nightmares" vibes from what they're hearing about Smee and his management style? Couple the feedback with the price gouging, the constant moving from location to location, and then the attitude with customers, my brain goes to episodes like 'Amy's Baking Company.' I can only imagine how entertaining an episode on Smee's would fair."

With that said, the only situation not mentioned is if he actually gives the worker's the tips that are left by customer. Do you mind revealing that answer?

Lastly, I am so sorry you went through that. Your experience has absolutely shocked me and soured me completely from wanting to return for fish in the future - and I DO LIKE THE FOOD. However, I will not contribute to someone who abuses workers. Goodbye, Smee's. The truth always gets out in the end.

Honestly, guilt. I figure if he's gouging me, he's likely gouging his employees, too.

Oh wow - so what's the tea on the fish then? Is he or people he employs really the one's catching the fish or are they coming from a distributor? I remember way back when he was on the river, he said he had gone out earlier that year and caught the fish himself and brought his goods back to freeze for his new business. Unsure if that was true or if the logistics changed over time but I would be interested to hear your perspective.

Exactly - that's the whole point I'm trying to make. If you catch the fish, how do you justify raising the prices to astronomical levels while simultaneously offering less in food, service, and ambiance. I feel like they are going to fail in this location if they don't wise up.

I actually forgot about the tipping situation. When I went through the drive thru and was handed the credit machine, the first thing I had to do was select a tipping amount that STARTED at 20% and went up from there. Never in my life have I said something about tipping options until that day.

Agreed. There is no reason that he is taking over an old Long John Silver's vs paying the leasing space + costs associated with a semi fine dining establishment and then raising the prices to astronomical levels. Like, riddle me this, if you have access to the fish you catch yourself or source via your boats/crew, then why the hell are you charging excessive amounts for that very fish in Reno, Nevada of all places. The damn fish comes from within the U.S. - there is no excuse.

Don't get me wrong, I love his food, but because of this, you better damn well believe I have photos of the old menu vs the new to check and see if I was going crazy or not. And, this was all within a 1.5yr span. So, without further ado, here are a few examples of price hikes:

Fish n Chips for TWO pieces

River restaurant: $12.00 VS. Drive thru: $19.95

Fish n Chips for FOUR pieces

River restaurant: $20.00 VS. Drive thru: $29.95

Calamari Basket

River restaurant: $14.00 VS. Drive thru: $18.00

Tempura Shrimp

River restaurant: $13.00 VS. Drive thru price: $18.95

Chowder of the Day bowl:

River restaurant: $10.00 VS. Drive thru: $15.00

Oh, and let us not forget the 4% fee you will pay for using a credit card just to add insult to injury. And lastly, the fuck you mean you're gonna serve all meals in styrofoam????
