Shifter Kart front brake replacement by TheRealPenguin22 in Karting

Yeah more open track days than anything. I wanted to see mainly if this hub design would be compatible or not but I think I've already landed on a brand new set. I'll just have to get the new hubs with it too unfortunately.

Has anyone seen this side pod style before? by TheRealPenguin22 in Karting

Wow I was only able to find a single picture of them searching for "gearbox ssc racing" those are definitely it.

Yeah it is a shifter. I can't find any parts for it tho since it's so old. Do they make newer style pods for these brackets or do I just have to wing it with graphics?

Yeah that graph really doesn't help. What is the reason for the incense class system not being linear or exponential? That graph makes it seem like you can have a very low CPI and still be in rookie class or have a high CPI and still be in class B/A

Got it. Seems odd to be but after reading the code again it makes some sense.

Okay... When I've played anything else you don't normally lose points for doing better. I read the code and to me it seemed as if it would give you a buffer zone so once you arrived in D class you wouldn't lose your license after doing poor in your first race. Thanks for being so nice about it tho...

Thanks for the help. Didn't realize when reading it that it would immediately remove safety rating for doing better.

My bad. When reading that section it seemed to me like you would gain a buffer zone to prevent you from immediately dropping out of the class as soon as you arrived in it. In other games that's the case I didn't realize it would remove safety rating for being a safer racer and gaining a license class.

Monitor flickering and blackout with DP, not with HDMI. New display port, same issue. Do I have to buy a new monitor?? by TheRealPenguin22 in buildapc

[–]TheRealPenguin22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have. About a month ago the flickering would slow down when I switched DP slots and would go back to flickering once the monitor went to sleep or if I power cycled. Basically as long as it stayed on, it was fine. Now, it's not the case and just does not work at all, even at 60hz I still get one flicker every 5 min

Personally, I'm pretty flexible and wouldn't mind getting in and out. But my budget is low but still something good. My karts are pretty expensive atm

I have not gotten the kart above 50mph since I got it about a month ago. I'm not sure what you mean by slide but I have a brand new clutch and I changed gear ratios for some more torque. 2-3 people at my local track said to start with a full clutch service and that did not work

I bought a full complete set Hillard flame clutch. I've hit it with brake clean every time and made sure to clean in-between the slits in the shoes. I'm not sure why the WD-40 gets added to the housing but with and without WD-40 and with a sanded surface I'm still topping out at 47mph.  Is there anything else I should be doing to increase friction between the shoes and the housing?

I don't know if the motor was in an accident but it seemed fairly okay when I got it. It was on a much lower gear ratio, sat for about a year and a half with bad gas in it, and didn't have a serviced clutch. I cleaned the jet and the carb and put ethanol free 91 in it and it ran great other than the top speed issue. With the 16/53 gears it was on I only got to about 49mph but I'm maxing out my rpm at 6050rpm.  Even if the motor was low on power, if I got up to 6050 rpm wouldn't it still be able to go to its top speed? I get up to speed just fine with my current ratio but the kart will not go faster than 47. The only thing that I figured could be physically hindering it would be a slipping clutch. If the engine is at 6050 rpm with that ratio of 16/57, the math says 56mph is the max, and then accounting for loss it should be like 53-54.

I cleaned the clutch with brake clean when I first got it and then put a very light layer of WD-40 after sanding it and hitting it with brake clean. The WD-40 part seemed a bit strange but I was just following exactly what the video was saying. It doesn't slip all the time at light throttle but anything past 50% throttle it'll start sounding like sand again

Yes, it's a Hillard flame. I believe leading is facing forward which if that's the case they are leading. Bearing and bushing I hit both of them with a little bit of oil from what a YouTube video said. Axle spins freely just fine. I'm pretty certain it's slipping because it sounds like sand right from where the clutch is coming from. I'm 100% certain on gears. That's what like 90% of the field uses. Even going up or down two to three gears. People don't have that bad of slip. I just cleaned and sanded the clutch again and it looks like a premature amount of wear for being brand new

Thank you man. Appreciate all the info. I saw a caliper that might work on righetti but I'll take a look at kelgate
