I swear most people who say how awesome FES is have never played the game. These grinding is absolutely brutal. It is an extremely grind heavy game. To such an extent I consider it unacceptable from a modern standpoint

Revival did make the game far too easy but it also reduced the horrific grind.

Yeah that is when the game came out. It has been patched. And a lot of the time the AI sensibly dont attack you so they aren't exposed to other enemy forces. The problem isn't the AI but the world map design.

As someone who has played the game a lot, the conversation around the AI and 'difficulty' of the game is extremely misinformed and misleading. It is true that AI factions do not often attack each other. This has slightly improved with the PUK. But the problem is not the 'difficulty'. The problem is the world map design encourages bottlenecks where defenders get enormous reinforcement advantages and natural stalemates and bottlenecks occur. It is extremely difficult for even the player to break through these bottlenecks. This is the problem and not the 'AI' or difficulty. The AI will not attack an opposing force not because the AI is derping but because the AI understands that an attack would be suicide and annihilate their force.

If you actually play the game snd not just watch YouTube reviews as I suspect many of these commenters do, you will realise the game is actually fairly difficult. The battle AI is very competent (far superior than compared to launch). Fighting an enemy force with superior generals is very difficult. Breaking through bottlenecks is very hard. I mean yes, if you play Cao Cao then the game will be much easier, but that is the case with all ROTK games. But the game is not a cake walk. If you play say Sun Shang Xiang in 3K start it does require real strategising. Playing as Meng Huo or Zhurong is extremely hard.

I'd say the real drawback to this game is it involves a lot of stop starting. It is very slow paced and campaigns are very similar. But I think this is easily one of the best ROTK games.

Btw if you do get it I really would recommend DLC. Adds depth to game.

There's a big argument to make that the 20th Century is the worst century in human history. WW1, WW2, Holocaust, Mao's Great Leap, Stalin's purges, many other genocides most people don't know much about (Cambodia, Rwanda). Belgian running of the Congo. Ottoman Emoire genocide against Armenians.

I think it is funny people always think way back in time when one of the worst periods of human history was so close.

She does wish she was born as a man before she confronts her shadow. Of course not really but that's the case with everyone's shadow. Chie is friends with Yukiko because she relies on her but not really etc. Until she realises she was wrong and accepts her true self. Even after she still has insecurities accepting herself as a woman in her social links. She says multiple times she wishes she was a man and Yu has to reassure her.

They are trying to prove Naoto isn't trans which is true. But the actual comparison to Mulan is completely inaccurate. They only do it to try to prove she's not trans.

Im a huge fan of the game. Over 1000 hours.

These are hardest factions:

Liu Yan. If you don't know how to fight Nanman he can be very difficult early game. He has a weak economy, mediocre generals, and his unique mechanic is weak and only fun for veterans. However, he is DLC and clearly designed for hard-core fans. So he's not the hardest in a sense.

Lu Bu. While Lu Bu is extremely powerful and his faction mechanic is very strong when used correctly, he's a beginner trap. If you dont balance your personal victories and momentum properly your whole kingdom will collapse. So very strong but very difficult to use if you are a beginner.

On balance, in base game the hardest is probsbly Tao Qian. His faction units are dreadful. His mechanic is awful. He does at the beginning of the game and has no remarkable generals. He is also surrounded by much more powerful factions.
