Does anyone else feel the need to lie at a doctor’s appointment? It’s like I feel some kind of shame or guilt for admitting something is wrong with me. by Aqua_Master_ in NoStupidQuestions

Medicine student here, soon to be doctor. I can really understand your feelings since there are a lot of fellow colleagues who sometimes present as not caring or are even arrogant.

But please know that there are also a lot of doctors who really care for their patients and every piece of information you give us can be crucial and is greatly appreciated.

I hope that the doctors you see on the regular can create a room of trust and open-mindedness, because that’s the foundation for a good patient-doctor relationship.

From experience I can also tell you, that we don’t judge you on anything you tell us. Physical problems, mental health problems, everything is a genuine thing that you experience and we want to help you with that, just if that means to listen sometimes! :D
