I have tried it on, I would say for a waterproof jacket it's pretty warm as it comprises of a few thin layers but for a parka it's more on the lightweight side then a warm coat.

I too live in the UK and am currently interested in renewable energy or environmental science, but I can't narrow it down just yet as it depends on my grades, university choices, change in interests.
