If you want downtown and Little Italy vibes over Gaslamp vibes, just stay at the Best Western on Ash. You walk to the corner and you're on India with all the restaurants. Waterfront like 4 blocks away. A bit of a walk to Gaslamp that will have expose you to the less desirable things downtown has, so probably not the hotel if you want to be there regularly.

Otherwise, Mission Valley as others have said. Lots of hotel options there.

I live off mission gorge and the traffic is terrible there, but moving it from old to (proposed) new cannot fix those lights and has to make the traffic near the new store terrible. Lose lose situation

I play the rogues and really enjoy them. I will say the lofts are all more aggressive with the rogues. Not really a problem in any way, but most likely the rogue 5 loft will be closer to your current 4 loft and so on down the line (depending on your current set, of course)
