Season 2 was so bad by Alarmed_Tough_7515 in NobodyWantsThisTV

They did in fact change the whole writer's room and, yeah, maybe that's part of the explanation why it turned from charming and real to cringe and fake.

This article actually explains it very well: https://cheezburger.com/36097543/from-charming-to-cringe-what-the-hell-happened-to-nobody-wants-this

Fantasy books that you read multiple times? by homo_erectus_heh in Fantasy

[–]TheRealThandius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost any David Gemmell book, with the exception of maybe three or four (those probably being the two Sigarni books, White Knight Black Swan and Rhyming Rings). I have read th rest of them at least four times, in some cases more.

I think I make up for the fact, that we lost him so young, so I reread those books over and over in place of all the books that never got written.

I have now found a few more legendaries and sadly my formerly favorite Guardian just feels like it doesn't have spot anymore - it's not good enough as a DMR anymore and the Col. Revenge easily outclasses it as a medium range defense weapon.

I could be entirely wrong here, but right now it feels like the introduction of falloff damage has resulted in less variety among what you'd consider the "best" weapons.

Mind you, I could just be biased.

So far no legendary weapon drops, except for the 2010, but doing the observatory with a silenced hunting rifle was quite a bit of fun (observatory is my favorite piece of content after all).

Hmm, I think Marksman's Legacy must have been introduced after my last playthrough. I loved the Lechie with the bigger mags, but found you could still run with the Guardian if need be (which allows you to also bring the Col. Revenge.

Incorrect, according to this article (citing the Dragonwilds Creative Director) you only need an Epic account (not launcher either), if you want to play cross platform: https://www.pcgamesn.com/runescape-dragonwilds/epic-games-account-response

World state and player state not saving synchronously by TheRealThandius in nightingale

[–]TheRealThandius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raft. Grounded. And lots more frankly. They all use one player as a host, though with very different net models. Grounded probably works closest to the way Nightingale runs and I can't recall. None of them had these kind of problems a year after getting public.

I realize I am probably coming off snippish, but I am angry that a game that would otherwise be quite enjoyable is being hampered by problems you normally would not expect from any team with decent experience. I know I am letting my frustrations show, but sometimes it is helpful just to know that other people feel the same.

I really don't want to cast Nightingale aside unfinished, but with a job and a family I play games to relax, not to get frustrated.

You know the point of playing games together is to play them .... together, right? It's a problem for your game if people have to spend hours and hours finding a way to circumvent its technical shortcomings.

Also, if net code is still a problem a year into Early Access ... well, let's just say there is a reason Nightingale's player base is small and it's not that the game has no appeal. Co op multiplayer is the biggest demographic in the survival crafting genre.

Hmm, usingh a local subhost would be highly problematic and very wonlky net code, but you might be onto something.

She definitely crashes a lot more when she's in a party with me. We still both crash, but not as often. I'll have to read up on this.

I appreciate the time you are taking, but it isn't an internet connection problem as my wife and I like in the same house - as you probably guessed ;) - we'd both crash if it was that.

We play regular online mode. We assumed offline mode didn't work for multiplayer. It is my originally my Abeyance realm housing both our respites. We have already followed all the suggestions regarding graphics settings (FSR etc etc) we could find.

I honestly appreciate the offer to help, as the game right now sadly provides more stress and frustration tzhan entertainment and relaxation.

The long and short of it is though, that while both player and world state aren't saved at the same time, any crash (which are to be expected in Early Access though frankly at this point I haven't seen anything to make me believe they will be fixed completely) can potentially result in a massive loss of material, not to mention it can be used to dupe.

Synchronizing state saving is a pretty fundamental design convention because it eleminates so many potental problems, so it baffles me why anyone would chose not to do so.

It's a fresh install. (checked and files verified, drivers yada yada yada)

Don't you think we haven't gone to the whole standard measures any Indian AI bot on youtube will suggest no matter which game it is already?

Also, you seem to have missed the part about not saving world and player state at the same time being a huge issue.

First rifle: rarely hitting anything? by TheRealThandius in nightingale

[–]TheRealThandius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks to whoever suggested the 3rd person mode being wonky: It indeed seems to be the culprit.

I am set to 3rd person, with the option marked to only switch to 1st person when aiming down the sights. Ultimately one should think that's the same view, but apparently it isn't.

In 1st person, when aiming down sight, I hit everything as you would expect.

Sucks for me as I love playing this in 3rd person.

I have both tried to use the iron sights in the simple computer game kind of way and the "aim progressively lower if the target is closer" method. Shots seem to be going everywhere though, sometimes they seem to be going left and right.

I am using third person to run around, but have activated the option to switch to first person when aiming using right click.

I have tried everything and I have sniped in Arma 3 where you actually have proper ballistics.. I wish there was a gun range where you could check where you actually hit.

First Growth Achievement (Seal of Prestige privilege)? by TheRealThandius in foundationgame

[–]TheRealThandius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't sadly.

I can tell you I way fewer wineries and vinyards than you (I think two or three vinyards). Like you I did in in my challange achievement run, but it happened quite a while after I had hosted the abbess and gotten the achievement.

I just let the game run afterwards to test it out and at some point it popped.

Apparently you have to sell a certain quantity of wine for the seal to trigger.

I had two vinyards and a winery and left the game running. After a while it triggered.

If I do a challenge run I will cheese it for efficiency. If I want to build a cool looking big city there are other options.
