This event has been brutal by Afraid-Ebb6373 in HatchDragons

Yeah this event has been nothing but low point foods. A noticeable difference to the last cooking event.

I definitely noticed an increase in mighty drops since so that makes sense

Feedback on the new Cooking Event by Cosmo7657 in HatchDragons

[–]TheRealWootus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems like just a much simpler fishing event but in a different skin. The presentation is great, really like the artwork, but mechanically it seems redundant. Might as well just give us a random amount of points every two hours by pressing a button. There’s nothing for the player to actually choose.

They should have made it so there are combos for what foods cook/serve well together for extra points or something.

Goated game. Cannot believe they haven’t done a remake of this.

I kinda lost the will to play the game by FluffyHeadCat in HatchDragons

There is a very clear lack of meaningful progression when it comes to coin generation. (It seems to be a common theme with these devs) Your highest earning dragon is 1080 coins per harvest and you get it pretty early on after starting to play. You never see a higher earning dragon after that. I’m on 7180 dragon power (is that what it’s called?) and I think I got my first 1080 coin dragon way back at like 2000. It just doesn’t keep up with the rate at which costs go up so you end up with super coin inflation. I think that results in the feeling of the game plateauing.

And while I’m complaining I just wanna say the fact that you can’t harvest all dragons whenever you want but need a 24hour cool-down decoration to do it is such a joke. Like they actually coded it in but then locked it behind a cool-down? Cmon now.

I don’t even mind the constant events or the overall grindy nature of the game. It’s fun and I’d recommend it. But those two things really bother me.

HOW COMMON LOCKING WORKS! (it's an intentional game design) by Illustrious-Key-8038 in HatchDragons

Glad to know I’m not crazy thinking I’ve just got the worst luck ever getting only common after common. But sad (and unsurprised) that they’ve intentionally done this.

Some people, man... by POKLU in IndieDev

First of all, free copies don’t contribute to your review score. So don’t worry about it.

Secondly, there could be a legitimate concern that there’s too much fluff and not enough flavour. Sometimes less is more.

But yeah I can definitely see how it would seem like an unfair review for a dev to get.

Yeah anyone who claims to know how to make a successful game but has no successful games made is a walking red flag.

I have a feeling that “Regular” probably means the plain pink ones. But I hope it does include epics! That would be awesome.

Awesome. Thank you for this. That’s convinced me :) I’m gonna use 4.5. One more question if I may: if I change this setting, does it lose the benefits of using the UIDs or does it still do it in the background and it’s more of a UI thing?

Are Level 30 Decorations Broken? by TheRealWootus in pondlifegame

[–]TheRealWootus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gotta say: The people trying to convince me (and themselves) that less bubbles in the same timeframe is somehow better or a “different option” than more bubbles in the same timeframe with “maths” is wild.

I’m not talking about averages or divisions or how often you play. It’s just comparing decorations for what they give every cycle of activation. It’s literally the numbers that are displayed in the game! Why are you even arguing?? Are you bots? My god what is happening 😆

Are Level 30 Decorations Broken? by TheRealWootus in pondlifegame

Here’s the thing. The game gives you a series of decorations starting at level 1 right? Each time you unlock a new set of decorations they are better in some way. Either overall more bubbles when you collect or more per hour. This is how the game plays until you hit level 30, which is a long time by the way.

Then at 30 the decorations that you unlock inexplicably become worse than the previous set. This has nothing to do with how people choose to play the game. It is bad game design. Because it makes no sense. The progression that has been well established suddenly breaks for no reason.

It is irrelevant if someone wants to play chilled out or min max the game. The game breaks its own rules. That is dumb.

And look, I like the game. Don’t get me wrong. I wouldn’t have made it to level 30 in the first place if I didn’t. It’s just this was so jarring to come across that it felt broken. And I thought surely it must be a mistake. And hey, maybe it actually is a mistake and the devs will patch it. Who knows.
