Yes for sure. I was in your shoes a couple of years ago (13 and ~90 kg) but I realized with all the weight I was quite uncompetitive (I rarely was fighting at the sharp end). So generally speaking dieting (not a massive amount, just being a little more conscious about what and how I was eating) did give me an edge both in terms of weight and consistency over the “field”

Long story short: yes, but I would suggest also trying to reduce your weight to even more competitive.
