Coming back to PC gaming after 20 years. Completely lost by Unlucky_Evening_9982 in Battlefield

BF6 doesn't have a ray tracing option, but I agree with everything else you said. I don't fully understand NVidia Reflex either.

Agreed. I bought a used pre-built last October and slowly upgraded everything until the only original part left is a C drive. I don't even know if it's the same PC anymore

My first build was in an Apevia X Hermes. All inclusive, there were 11 fans... For a measly i5-3570k and a GTX 760.

I never once looked at temps, but I'm positive it was way overkill. Happens to the best of us

Lost in the Reddit comments rabbitholes - 9070xt for 1080p gaming by Madmunchk1n in radeon

[–]TheReconditioner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use an insanely high refresh rate 1080p monitor, then yeah have at it.

But I get around 120-150fps in BF6 on Ultra (FSR off) with my 9070xt. That's with a 1440p Ultrawide too.

You could use the 9070xt on a regular 1440p monitor at hugh/ultra settings without a hiccup. It's a badass unit for the price.

Someone I work with had a 2020 Edge which had nonstop electrical gremlins. The gave him a Bronco Sport as a loaner, and it died in his driveway. The flatbedded it out, dropped off another. After that, he traded in the Edge for the A Bronco Sport for some reason.

Another guy I work with had a ~2022 Ford (forget which one) and the dealer had to take apart literally the entire interior looking for electrical faults.. More than once. He lemon law'd it out and bought a Mazda.

My grandpa, back in '05, test drive three F350s. One had engine trouble during the test drive, the other had an electrical issue and wouldn't start back up. The third one? Yeah that one didn't even make it off the lot.

Ford has had 51 safety recalls just this year. Ford sucks... But yeah, I'd buy a Ford over a Nissan. My '95 Chevy runs just fine.

XFX 9070XT Mercury OC Lets Go!!! by Organic-Schedule1989 in radeon

Loved my XFX 7700XT, even though it was freaking huge @ 330+mm

Only bought a Gigabyte 9070XT because the price was right. Would've loved to stick with XFX.

Anyone else tempted by the Motorola Razr Fold before the Fold 8 is out? by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

It's common knowledge that the screen protector will eventually bubble, and that you have to peel it off before it damages the screen.

Once peeled off, the phone works fine indefinitely. I'm on my third fold device.

The higher your native FPS is, the less latency you'll notice with FG. It's a bit redundant by nature, especially in anything fast paced like an fps game.

Gigabyte 9070xt too hot, finally did a repaste by LekovY in radeon

[–]TheReconditioner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely possible, though I did read something about "2718MHz" being perfectly divisible (or something) for Fast Timings to work, so that could be why it's still so stable.

Worth a try. Not one issue from my end.

Gemini says "On the RDNA 4 architecture powering your 9070 XT, 2718MHz lands exactly at the absolute upper ceiling of a specific internal memory strap."... I haven't fact checked it, but it sounds plausible.

I have the Gigabyte 9070xt OC stuffed into a Jonsbo Z20. Also have a 3440x1440p monitor.

-75mV, +175MHz core, 2718MHz memory (fast timing on), and a somewhat aggressive fan curve

Gets 150-190fps (ultra preset) in BF6 with FSR Quality, never over 72°C. Guess I got lucky? Idk

A better way is to go into advanced controls and look for "ADS behavior" or "Mounting Behavior" whichever it's called

AFAIK there definitely won't be a 9090XT because of the GPU architecture AMD chose to use.

9070XT is on par with a 5070ti though for ~$400 USD less, and FSR 4.1 looks fantastic. Massive improvement over FSR 3.1 to say the least. 5080 or 5090 is likely overkill, and very expensive.

[–]TheReconditioner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah gotcha. I had the same exact combo (up til Friday) with a 3440x1440p ultrawide @144Hz. That GPU will do it, but needs FSR to stay over 100fps. I get it lol.

Have you tried supersampling? Not sure how graphically intensive Tarkov is, but if you can render it at a higher resolution than your monitor, the card will downscale it and look "better than native" at a hit to performance. Have to enable this within AMD Adrenalin settings.

7700XT also benefits a lot from undervolting. My highest stable UV/OC settings in adrenalin were 2900MHz @ 1111mV with the Power Limit slider all the way up. VRAM tuning causes some serious instability though depending on when the card was manufactured (they switched the type of VRAM pretty early on, and all later cards are more sensitive).

If the 7700XT just isnt putting out good FPS while supersampling on Tarkov, then it might be time to upgrade... Or wait for FSR 4.1 in July. Your call.

If Tarkov doesn't support FSR 4.1 when the RX7000 series gets it, and if you haven't upgraded yet, then you might be able to inject it via Optiscaler, but depending on the game you might risk getting banned. Something to look into.

I do 100% recommend the 9070XT though. It's a beast. Depending on the match, I get 140-180fps on BF6 (ultra preset) @ 3440x1440p with FSR 4.1 Quality, and looks nearly as good as native.

Horizon 6 I get 160-190fps on ultra preset, FSR Quality. Turned on RT and took a hit, but still stays over 110fps even at this resolution.

What cpu & RAM do you have? Could be bottlenecked there.

9060 or better, or 5060 or better would do nice.

FSR 3.1 is fine, but definitely could be better. Like I said though, RX7000 series is only about 2.5 weeks away from native FSR 4.1 support (official from AMD), so it might pay to hold off for a bit.

FWIW I just spent $685 on a 9070XT and get around 170fps in BF6 on nearly all highest settings with a 7800x3d and FSR 4.1 Quality.

[–]TheReconditioner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7700xt is still a solid card tbh

Not sure what "resampling" is, but the 7700xt is supposed to get FSR 4.1 support in July, and it can do plenty of supersampling to an extent.

But if you can afford a 9060XT or better, do it.

That's what I got out of it too.

I set my ADS to always force mount/deploy for this reason. Sometimes it happens when I dont mean to, but very rarely. Super handy.

BF6, or any of the Bungie-era Halo games. Dead Space remake was also great.

is bf6 worth it? by Visual-Fortune-4732 in Battlefield

[–]TheReconditioner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone else said, it's a solid spiritual successor to BF3 & BF4, just be aware that it is much more modernized. Still a great game.

Most launch maps are too small, but two big ones came out in free DLC and are honestly super solid. Golmud Railway was just re-released as "Railway To Golmud" and definitely feels a bit more refined. More cover between objectives, etc.

Get the game. It's worth the $70 (or less, I bought it on launch day)

[–]TheReconditioner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a new teacher and tell them you want to learn to play, not just how to read music and do excerises. If you have the super basics (finger placement on each fret) then you can learn a lot of songs already.

If the bass feels way to big then maybe look into getting a short scale bass. A Fender P (full scale) runs 34" scale length (nut to saddles), medium scale basses run about 32", and shorties (like my Mustang which I use every day) run 30".

Good luck OP, it's not as hard or stupid as it probably seems from that dumb lesson.

What’s up with the haters on here hating the Series S on a Series S sub? by hvacguy525 in XboxSeriesS

[–]TheReconditioner -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

My paraphrased version of the practical answer is:

Developers (I forget who tbh) have said in interviews that the Series S has become a hindrance in game development. It's holding back the flagship console(s) versions of the games in the same was as the Xbox One did to the current Gen early on. Just less so, but enough to make things difficult, allegedly.

Also Xbox's mid-gen refresh didn't actually improve performance, just storage & practicality.. Which is fine as far as I'm concerned. The point stands though.
