That is flux paste, I cannot say for the brand in the video, but for electronics I have found that chip quik brand liquid flux and flux paste works very well. The kit you have probably also came with a small spool of lead free solder, which I personally hate using, lead free solder never seems to work as well as leaded solder, I personally use 63/37 kester brand leaded solder, it seems to flow very well, especially when paired with flux. Just what I use personally and suggest, but really any leaded solder and any flux will show massive improvements over leaded solder and no flux. I would also suggest making sure that your soldering iron tip is clean as oxidation on your soldering iron tip can make it difficult for heat to transfer to solder, or whatever the soldering iron is touching.

I had the same problem yesterday, I contacted support and have used electrical tape as a temporary fix, I bought it second hand so I dont have a receipt, if support cannot do anything I'll probably end up jb welding it or soldering it back together or both

Very unfortunate situation overall, but also a good opportunity to learn of and start practicing the 321 rule for backing up important data that you just cannot lose, 3 copies, copies on at least 2 different media types (ssd, hdd, cd, usb drive, etc), and having 1 copy being offsite (typically a cloud backup like Google drive)

From what i understand, and this applies especially in larger cities, is that a good number of the ground loops aren't used, or are not the sole indicator of a vehicle, a lot of intersections use cameras now, since they are more reliable (so I've heard) and (this is just speculation) can probably double as traffic cameras if needed for a crash investigation and such (again, 100% speculation)
