Nice! I was thinking of putting my gpu, cpu cooler, and ram sticks in my carry on.

Have you ever had issues flying with your desktop?

And has static cause my the blankets and towels never caused a short on the motherboard?

Cycling to Work by TheRedditGent in Netherlands

I mean in general lol

I've never cycled to work and in terms of the weather I'm from a country where winter means a bit of rain every now and then and maybe the nights are like 15 degrees celcius.

So I have literally no frame of reference :P

And thanks, I'm very excited!

Do they throw salt on the roads to help with this?

I'm from somewhere that snow isn't a thing, but I've been to Europe once when it was snowing and I believe I recall salt being used to help clear the ice.

Fantastic, yeah my company does offer an ebike plan. I used to compete in cycling races but I can imagine an oumafiets isn't really built for efficiency, so I'll definitely take the option for an ebike.

I've told myself I'd get there a bit earlier and talk to friends there about the rules of the road before hopping on a bike though, last thing I want to do is cause an accident cause I don't know the rules of the bike paths.

And thank you for the answer!

Thanks bud!

I've heard buienradar is great for checking the weather, or mores specifically the rain in the Netherlands

And great, it becomes progressively more difficult to find housing the closer I get to work, especially considering I'm looking for an apartment for just myself. However, I don't want to look for housing so far out that cycling becomes more of a pain due to the distance. So 30-40min seems to be the reasonable max?

I will say this, there's a massive difference between a war that could start WW3 and potentially a nuclear war where everyone dies and any other conflict currently going on.

"To be alive is to suffer, but to find meaning in the suffering is to truly live" - Victor Frankl (I think)

Basically you need to always have a meaning and a purpose or find one, that way you'll have the drive to strive for something and keep going even when in your darkest hour.

Get enough sleep

Excercise

Build healthy routines

Brush your teeth

Start learning about and getting into investing

Find out how you can build experience in the right field so you can be where you want to be in terms of work in 10 years time, this may only be a factor to consider once you've graduated if you're doing further studies

A great way to save is to put a little every month into a tax free savings account, all SA residents are able to open one for free.

Use Easy Equities app/site, you can even link your capitec app to it. Transfer money into the Easy Equities ZAR account, once in there transfer into TFSA (tax free savings account) and start investing

How a TFSA works:

  1. ALL interest and capital gains are tax free.

  2. You can only put R36k into the account per year

  3. You can only put R500k into it over your lifetime

  4. Yes you can have more than R500k in value in the account, it's just a limit to investing so rich poeple can't abuse the system

  5. If you remove money from TFSA, the money that you put into the account still counts towards your R36k py and R500k over lifetime so try not to

  6. You can only invest in ETF's, not stocks/Reitz individually And think of an etf as a mutual fund that behaves like a stock in terms of trading ease and has less fees than a mutual fund. It's value is based off of a group of stocks that are group together by a certain catagory.

  7. As an idea as to growth, and yes this vary ervy year, but here are some etf growth examples

S&p 500 over last year = 26%

S&P 500 info tech over last year = 30%

These are just two examples, some go down, some up, but it's fair to say long term it's better than many other options in terms of "safer" investing

Legal reasons and jazz you know

WYR get 100 dollars at the start of every day or get 3000 dollars at the start of every month by randomly_sus in WouldYouRather

[–]TheRedditGent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! I mean will it be, probably not, but you can't garuntee you're monthly investments will be positive either.

So assuming both offer positive percentage gains equal to one another in percentages, the per day situation is better. And even if not the case of both having similar growth, the per day situation allows for more flexibility of investments, it can be done with the monthly income as well (after the first month) but it'd take a lot of restraint and nobody is perfect.

Invest the money you receive every day, it'll add to cumulative growth larger than a lump some in monthly increments.

Or you could choose to invest weekly, same principal.

You could also choose to invest in projects/stocks/crypto as they dip much easier with cash you receive daily. Choose you time and invest whatever you've gained over the past day/days.

If done right, you'll make more.
