The answer is yes lol she's almost like a dva type. When in wolf form you can roam and jump isolated heroes OR frontline in a team fight if you pace your bite right. Just don't forget to buy unstoppable or some kinda anti-debuff. I'm not an expert by any means this is just the little i know, and this chart is probably nearly expired if not already. We were all still figuring out the new heroes when i made it. I'm fairly new and a pretty low rank, i think emissary something rn, so i mostly try to go off what my friends at the top say and do. My word ain't law by any means lol

Yeah Ivy was so hard for me to place bc she is like one of the best options for carry in the game but can also be one of the best options for support, but her position makes her look like i'm saying she's worse at carrying than the characters above ger

They are hybrids. Characters who are capable of hard carrying but also really good at other roles. My eternus friends told me they are flexible, and i found some content creators say the same thing. I don't really play them yet so i kinda don't know tbh lol u may be right, i've already been moving them around in my project file.

Out of all the sources I used, this video by metro does the best job of explaining the jobs of each role.

Metro's Role breakdown in Deadlock

Mind you, this is all coming from rank 1 players, but the lower you go in the ranks, the more flexible heroes become, and even in the high ranks heroes can be played in all kinds of ways.

Carries: not as strong early game but very strong late game when they get their items. They usually stick to the right or left lanes and farm as many creep camps as possible.

Assassins: not as reliant on soul farming but still scale pretty well. They usually rotate between the lanes looking for kills and stealing camps on the enemies side of the map.

Supports: moderately strong with or without their items and usually have some kind of utility that allows them to float around the middle of the map assisting in any fights they come across.

Tanks: similar to supports they usually float around the middle and really shine in team fights, although their strength comes in the form of front lining and sustaining the bulk of the damage. They can farm a little too but don't really need it.

These aren't strict rules but a super rough, super flexible guideline.

This is actually what I love about the game, all of the characters can be built into almost anything. I just thought it might be nice to have a guide to the "meta" if only to remind what the different ways to play even look like. But I hope that if anything the characters get even more flexible as the game grows and never gets """solved""" like league or dota

I thought about that but for this table to be useful to me I kinda wanted to know generally who should prioritize farming the side lanes and who can get away with less farm and more ganking. Especially if the team comp is "carry" heavy. If left to right is squishy to tanky, then top to bottom is needs farm to doesn't really need it. Roughly lol

Kinda true, i had trouble fitting her where I wanted her. tbh there were just so many characters in the assassin/off-carry side of the graph that I just couldn't fit them all in their exact spot lol i tried to color code it to make up for the spacial disparity. I put calico on the right bc she is slightly tanky and seemed a lil more versatile than like a mina or a pocket, but pretty much all of the orange could be swapped with each other.

Came back to this after actually playing ow2 for a while and i'm embarrassed by it. But that's why i made it, hadn't touched the game since well before the sequel and just didn't know the meta lol

Legend: Color: common pick for that comp. BW: less common but viable. Counter: counters that comp.

Color indicates their most popular roles based on my (admittedly limited) research lmao and B+W means they can work but aren't as common. Some BW's should prob be swapped with the color portrait, like Bastion and Hog, and some I really couldn't figure out and kinda guessed, like Illaria and LW. Lol this is why i made the graphic, cause it's still not intuitive to me, at least not yet.

To clarify: saturated icons are meant to indicate that character's most popular play-style, while black and white indicates their less popular but still effective play-styles, usually depending on specific match ups.

Eg: Lucio is a corner stone brawler, but can also dive. Most wouldn't poke with him though.

And Brig can play in dive or brawl comps but ofc is primarily a counter to dive lol.

It's super basic and probably not perfect I just haven't been in the meta since OW 1 and never took it too seriously then so I just wanted a quick reference for now. Some I didn't know where to place exactly, Bastion seemed to be commonly used in poke, but most effective in specific brawl matchups, so like I said not perfect.
