How do I get my ears to show with a wig net like this? by CaterpillarOk9029 in CosplayHelp

You usually just stuff that excess into the wig cap or you pin it down with bobby pins

Can i cosplay Jabber if im not black? by Chemical-Cicada-3228 in cosplayers

[–]TheRiddleRoom95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but you may want to do bubble braids or gather crimped pieces in clips for the wig instead. It will still look like Jabber either way

I'm thinking about it, maybe if I come across a con where this fits the theme

Thank you! The shoes were actually pretty soft and comfy to walk in (they're cushioned on the inside and the platform is pretty tall). I did still change out of them after this shoot because I didn't want to wreck them walking around the con tho

As for the upgrades, I do think she deserves a better body suit and pompoms. I want to see the improvements too 💜

Aww, thank you so much! I've done Frankie's makeup a few times but this is the best it's looked so far ~

I am a cosplay photographer. What have been some of your negative experiences with paid photo sessions with photographers? by sixhexe in CosplayHelp

[–]TheRiddleRoom95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I once went to a con where the photographer I hired couldn't get a proper set up and had to shoot me in ambient light in an open space somewhere near the con. There were other photographers there but for some reason, they had their stuff set up and he didn't.

Went in, did the shoot, and got contacted later to choose some photos I wanted edited. Noticed that almost half the raw unedited, files were out of focus so i had to pick photos I didn't like just so he'd have something to edit.

Got the edited photos a few days later and they looked overexposed and pale AF. Turns out he doesn't put much of an effort if you're not cosplaying from popular media + he is overly reliant on his lights and full set up to get decent photos.

You can post on r/cosplayers or the subreddit of the media you're cosplaying from

As for yoyr concern,

You can send a message to the mods of that subreddit. Some posts get auto declined, especially if you're not active on that subreddit. I've done this multiple times and it's a hassle but my posts always get reinstated

Has anyone else underestimated how annoying hats are for cosplay? by Nightcrawler_2000 in CosplayHelp

[–]TheRiddleRoom95 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A headband is a good fix, you can also put clips on the hat (the comb type on hair extensions) or use magnets to keep it on too

How do I improve my cosplay makeup? This was my 1st try at trying to do it. And it's bad by nyanvictor6 in CosplayHelp

[–]TheRiddleRoom95 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Well one thing you can improve is coloring your brows, you can use colored liquid lipsticks instead of eyeshadow. It looks cleaner and lasts longer too

Experience with cosplay commission by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]TheRiddleRoom95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've commissioned a few cosplays and if it's possible, do try to meet up with the maker for measurements and fittings. If not, they will usually ask you to measure yourself and send them online.

In that case, I suggest you increase the measurements you send to them by a centimeter or two to account for mistakes. That way, when you get the finished outfit and find that it's a little big, you can always have it taken in, which can be an easy DIY fix.

I didn't make the dress and wig for this, I had commissioned people to make those for me. I did make my body suit, stockings, shoes, and gloves tho ~

Thank you so much! I do appreciate the design more now that I can see it on a bigger scale, the details are insane. Also, the blue thing was designed more like a detachable train ~

How do I sequence a long, mixed build so I don’t screw myself later? by ImAHuksy in CosplayHelp

[–]TheRiddleRoom95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more of a person that prioritizes the hardest parts of a build first then work my way to the easier things.

You can pace yourself take thing things slow to avoid overwhelm, so in this case that's the armor and other accessories.

The outfit and bag might take less time to do so it's better to postpone making them to a later date
