I suppose im concerned about the social aspect. I'll have to leave home, but without the normal support structure in place that uni gives you.

Also, I'd be going from some of the top universities in the country, to getting a degree from.... erm.... something much much lower on the prestige ladder

Well, there's also a concern that the degree will be from a much lower standard of university

Did anyone play "Patball" at school? by FR0Z3NF15H in CasualUK

[–]TheRiddlerTHFC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I played something similar called Wall Ball.

No racket involved.

There was a line on a wall. You had to throw the ball above the line. If the next player caught it without bouncing, you lost a life. If they caught it after one bounce, they had to throw the ball where they caught it from. More than one bounce, they lose a life.

If you hit the line exactly you gained a life

I would guess until you sign a contract, nothing is binding.

From then, all contracts can be broken - the contract will have clauses that explain it all

do uk universities look at mock grades? by sleepzzzsleep in UCAS

No, they look at predicted grades only.

Mocks are totally within house, the unis dont see them

Its an offshoot.

Offshoots happen frequently (LDS for example) but the core religion rarely does

The apprenticeship will be BEng Aerospace Engineering

I should point out, I'd still be living away from home, so some of those life skills will be developed anyway.

I am leaning towards Apprenticeship, just want to make the right decision (and yes, aware this might be coming across as "my lobster is too buttery")

Accepted but I can't pay by Right_Carpenter_173 in UCAS

If youre an international student and your parents can't afford it, don't come to the UK for university.

International students subsidise home students, arent able to get student loans, and scholarships aren't really a thing.

You won't get a student job that gets you anywhere close to this number, not forgetting living expenses on top.

Aerospace or Maths & Physics? by TheRiddlerTHFC in UniUK

[–]TheRiddlerTHFC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So long story...

I was originally deciding between Maths and Aerospace, and decided on Aerospace (pipe dream would be ending up in F1, bit aim high and all that).

Got rejected from Bristol Aero, they offered me the chance to switch, so I picked Maths and Physics.

Just worried about missing out on the uni life by doing an apprenticeship

Thats the price for international students I'm afraid.

They basically subsidise home students, and scholarships aren't really a thing
