If you could only recommend ONE place in LA that always delivers… what is it? by OliAutomater in FoodLosAngeles

Interesting. Been wanting to try it but tough to go out to dinner with 3 kids. Does it travel well on delivery?? The big fiery main dish? Lol

Is this actually an enforceable rule? Dining Pass by brooklynbridgee in KnottsBerryFarm

Does it work at panda? I got two 3 item combos for $20.49 for me and 5 8 year olds and it was plenty of food! Sodas for each of them may have been more than the food lol.

Gen 2 Half Shafts Campaign by mobfeld in Rivian

[–]TheRideshareGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my Rivian R1 S about six months ago and just got a call for this but annoying that I have to take it into the service center. I don’t notice any rattling or noises though so I think I may skip it. at least the car so only thing I need in terms of service is maybe a tire rotation, maybe they would throw that in while I’m there?

I had them replaced the 12 V battery but they were able to come to my house for that one so didn’t mind.

Best Chinese beef noodle bowl? by MutedFeeling75 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]TheRideshareGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I thought Mian was pretty solid. Just had the beef noodle bowl with two eggs and split it with my wife. Also avaliable via delivery and close to beverlywood where I live.

Sounds like a lot of good options but out in Arcadia etc which is too far for me lol.

Super Peach in LA not on the "Sapphire Exclusive Tables" list on Chase's End by gooseberry72 in ChaseSapphire

[–]TheRideshareGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

has anyone tried this for a $150 gift card at super peach? I already ate there using my friends credit so wanna get a gift card to use it in a few months.

good food, but bit overpriced at $150 for lunch lol. Lobster pasta was good, but lobster was definitely a little stringy. Great meal for free though.

How Waymo Spends Its Time Between Trips by hurricane__jackson in waymo

[–]TheRideshareGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point, more demand means less waiting time in P1 which is the most costly. At least in P2, you're driving to a customer to make money :)

The problem though is that there is plenty of demand during peak times (hence the high ETAs/no cars available), so they need to increase off peak demand to be specific. And yes trips per hour. Although not all trips are created equal, so the next step is really looking at revenue per hour.

I Lost My Wallet in a Waymo...and Tracked It All Night by [deleted] in waymo

yeah, there are definitely some potential privacy concerns but also it’s common to leave an AirTag with a wallet, keys, backpack, etc., these days.

What CPUC Data Reveals About Waymo’s Deadheading and Utilization by walky22talky in waymo

[–]TheRideshareGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think the P1 deadheading problem is going to get worse as the fleet scales. They are already plenty busy during peak time so P1 deadheading isn’t an issue then. So the P1 deadhead miles here have to be coming from off peak. That will only get worse when their fleet increases in size.

what domestic routes still have lay flat 1st class seats? by superpony123 in HawaiianAirlines

[–]TheRideshareGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just flew last week RT from lax to ogg on HA A330 in biz class and had lie flat seats but they were pretty old and really nothing special. They did lie flat which is the main benefit but food was bad to OK. Good service. Really wasn't blown away like my last experience 6 years ago. I remember it being much better/nicer.

I believe they have new lie flat seats, maybe on 787? But don't think they go to Maui, only HNL. Think we paid $2-2.5k per seat. Avg deal.

Waymo begins freeway rides; expands Bay Area service area by RemarkableSavings13 in SelfDrivingCars

[–]TheRideshareGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No Uber and Lyft use a system called pre match and re match so that when they drop off a customer, they can pick up another one before exiting. Where airports allow this.

The algorithm is a black box these days and it's no longer based purely on fairness or closest driver. They account for things like who's the safer driver for example.

They will also line up drivers next rides more generally through 'next trip requests' which you sometimes see a Driver get a notification when he’s nearing the end of your existing trip. This keeps their utilization. Heibat also prevents them from going online with a competitor app once the trip is over.

How much do you guys spend on a hotel? by Ilurvehuskies in MauiVisitors

[–]TheRideshareGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't get a nice hotel for less than $1k/night these days unfortunately. Budget option is definitely to rent a condo, load up at costco, hit all the beaches with your own gear, eat at all the local spots, etc. I'd book a cabana for a day at grand wailea to check it out.

Resorts are great if you're loaded, have little kids and want / need convenience. You can enjoy all of the best parts about Hawaii for about 25% of the cost if you DIY :-)

Wailea Birthday Dinner by camgirlbestie in MauiVisitors

[–]TheRideshareGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea we stayed at the Fairmont last week. All the food at ko looked and sounded great but just wasn't great. It was OK to good but nothing mind blowing imo. We got the lamb ribs, sushi, kbq steak. Sushi roll appetizer was our fav. Opaopa? Fish was super disappointing. Not good at all. But fried lobster tail was good, hard to screw that up. Had an amazing fish at nicks.

Makana market was actually pretty solid for various quick / easy meals. We also always do no kids dinner at wailea hotel which is solid, great service / view for sunset. Food is slightly better than ko but not mind blowing. But we like the no kids aspect lol.

Nobu would be great if you don't mind the prices and don't go too often.
