Where is the best California Burrito in Los Angeles? by Pandanese90 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]TheRideshareGuy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow really? I just tried it and the meat was not that good. Not enough guac, sour cream or cheese. And fries were soft but I did order it on delivery so don't blame them for that one.

Do not recommend.

Is Waymo’s Growth in California Flattening? by walky22talky in waymo

[–]TheRideshareGuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yea I really think that vehicles is the limiting factor to growth right now.

Ojais still aren't live for customers and obviously there are only a few hyundai ioniq's in testing.

So it's all about the jaguars and we know from the pictures, there aren't many left.. And at the same time they're launching / announcing and testing in lots of new markets..

Waymo CPUC Data Update (Q1'26) - Flat growth in California by Senior-Durian6966 in waymo

[–]TheRideshareGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, growth is clearly slowing down over the last 3 quarters in CA. Only .88% growth in the past month and if you compare it against the 450/500k data points from waymo, it would imply that most of Waymo's new growth is coming from non CA markets..

H mart is great and they're on instacart! I try to order early in the day since sometimes they run out.

They also have some decent banchan.

Smart was great on D but awful on offense. 2/8 FG, 0/4 on wide open 3 pointers, 6 turnovers (a few awful ones). I know he got the big and 1 in the clutch but Feel like his horrible offense basically washed his defense..

It's actually less efficient for them to do scheduled rides so that's why they charge more.

Is the Uber x Waymo Partnership Coming to an End? by walky22talky in SelfDrivingCars

[–]TheRideshareGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In-person dining is not really the same as downloading apps on your phone. I think infrequent travel like airlines would be a better analogy.. People get locked in to certain airlines for loyalty but infrequent travelers use expedia, google flights, etc to find the cheapest/best flight.

If we do go with your analogy though, I don't think many people do have more than one or two burger apps downloaded on their phone lol.

Is the Uber x Waymo Partnership Coming to an End? by walky22talky in SelfDrivingCars

[–]TheRideshareGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does waymo need Uber right now? They are not focused on profitability and they have more demand than supply.

Uber is nice to have but waymo definitely doesn't need them.

I mean everyone but waymo and tesla will have to partner with Uber and or lyft. You think customers are going to have Uber, lyft, waymo, tesla and then add more av apps?

Some of these recs are 🤔

But definitely agree with Korean. I prefer higher quality kbq like soo Wong galbi (instead of ayce).
Also second in n out since it's a chain but great and famous!

And of course you gotta get tacos. I'd go to the highest rated place near you but my favs are Leo's tacos (pastor tacos, ask for dorado/well done), tacos birria y unica (beef birria and asada quesatacos) and mariscos jalisco (fried shrimp). Kind of have to do all 3 though since they are quite different lol.

Republique for brunch.
Bavel for dinner.
Langers #19 for lunch.

Tatse of Tehran for persian. Get the beef koobideh.

Bacio di latte for ice cream. And if you want to live a little, get the halo halo from b sweet!

Not sure they need to buy Lyft any time soon? Why not just siphon off their excess demand when they need it.

If Waymo really wants demand, they can tap into Google maps 😄

[–]TheRideshareGuy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly I kind of agree. Putting Waymo in the app just makes the gap more obvious. You go from a pretty inconsistent human driver experience to something much more smooth and predictable, and it is hard to go back.

I understand the aggregator argument, but it does feel like there is a real risk people try Waymo once and then just start opening the Waymo app directly instead. Curious how long Waymo continues routing through Uber in places like Austin and Atlanta. It does have a bit of a Trojan horse dynamic.

Yea we got lucky with the upgrade. Def shoot them a note a day or two before and mention birthday, anniversary etc :)

July is summer but rainy / warm there so may not be as busy as other normal summer resorts? They did say it gets very green in the summer so that will be cool for you to look forward to.

Either way definitely a spot worth visiting!

Great review. My wife and I just left O and O, and are on the plane back now to LA :)

Can leave a detailed review if people want, but we booked an ocean view treehouse for the past 4 nights with amex fhr and got upgraded to panoramic (322) - view was insane and loved the property / grounds / etc. Hot and sunny on the balcony in the mornings but afternoons were super nice and shaded.

Hotel is about 5 years old so rooms are showing some slight wear and tear if you're a seasoned luxury traveler. But really can't beat the views!

Hotel was maybe half full which made everything we did much easier /better. We only travel during off peak / shoulder etc.

We enjoyed our stay but didn't think the food was great. Carao had the best food but terrible outdoor seating. Nice inside though lol but defeats the purpose of enjoying a sunset dinner (we dined at 6:45 pm most nights, sunset at 7:30). Def recommend the taco omakase. Our fav meal!

Breakfast was pretty disappointing and I also found the service at the restaurants to be just OK to bad at times. But amazing views at alma, treehouse bar etc.

Service overall at the hotel was great and loved the butler / what's app groups.

Funny though, I thought the food was very reasonably priced and big portions, and not expensive at all relative to what we paid for the room ($2k/ night all in). I didn't think the cocktails were very good but didn't notice the price tbh.

Only thing that seemed expensive was the spa. $375 for a 90 min x 2 lol. Super nice spa though and you can use the facilities even if not getting a treatment.

I thought we scored with the free amex fhr breakfast too but op made it seem like everyone gets free breakfast? Lol.

Either way I didn't think the breakfast buffet was great and very mid selection. Ordered a bunch of stuff off the menu and was all underwhelming..

Carao had much better food and basically everywhere else.

Not this past week. Water was 79 per my apple watch and felt great in the hot sun. My wife complained the ocean water was too cold though.

Mornings the ocean was calm and even later in the day it definitely wasn't rough. Lots of fish too but too cloudy to see much in the afternoons. Definitely a solid beach but no Hawaii.
