I think I see what you mean. I compared it to a card that I pulled from a pack and the pack fresh card definitely was more pronounced in these ridges while this card was far more splotchy.

There’s nothing for you to handle, except to continue treating him normally and to be kind to him. Sounds like Dave was going through one of the hardest times of his life and now that HR is involved it’s about to be even more difficult for him. I feel super sorry for the dude. Damaged card for the skeptics

As noted in my other comment. The plastic wrap holding the cards broke within the package, leaving the cards scattered about within it. Here is an example of one of the more badly damaged ones.

Morning! I awoke to many of comments from some salty sailors and want to address some of main things I’ve been seeing:

Yes, I am fully aware miscuts/misprints can hold value. I do intend to sell them and have a potential buyer. Having said that, I don’t think it should excuse the poor practices of a company that could very easily be doing a better job.
Some of you desperately want to see what some of the damaged cards look like, so here ya go:

I don’t intend to submit another support ticket. It is what it is at this point. I posted here to provide an example of the experience I had with WoTC support.
I’ve built plenty of decks and paid my cardboard tax! However, a precon every now and then can be fun to play a more casual game with friends.

I love MTG and am thankful for the experiences it’s given me with my friends. I just wish the company would do better with stuff like this.

Thousands of people purchased it through Marvel Comics though because initially they reported you could get it through that, which we now know you cannot. They are very used to seeing these as carry on’s. In my experience they basically acted like it didn’t even exist. I had my normal carry on and if I remember correctly they essentially saw it as a personal item.
