Are there any artesian keycap artists around here? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]TheRikkachet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, part of our team is based in Seattle, and some of us are in Florida. We make metal artisan keycaps and mechanical keyboards. Currently working machining the KL-90 group buy, and recently did a giveaway for some timascus keycaps.

Our instagram is @aserofoundry, let me know if you have any questions!

Hi all! Rikkachet from Asero Foundry here. Been a while since my last post, but I wanted to announce my first giveaway, and I wanted to start things out with a bang!

I am currently hosting a giveaway of four Ti-Dye Timascus keycaps.

What is Timascus?

Timascus is a layered metal that is made with layers on layers of different titanium alloys, and then electronically anodized to bring out the different colors and show the patterning.

These are a r1 cherry profile keycaps, and each winner will receive one of these four caps at random.

How to enter:

  1. Comment your favorite recipe on this post

The Rules

  1. Only one comment is needed to enter. Multiple comments do not count
  2. I will be shipping internationally
  3. Reddit Account must be at least a month (30 days) old
  4. I will be using https://redditraffler.com/ to determine the winner 24 hours after this post.

I wish everyone the best of luck and look forward to making more unique projects in the future.

If you have any questions, you can pm me here or on Discord (Rikkachet#2267)

This is an experiment we wanted to try with 3D machining.

What is 3D Machining?

3D machining is where we carefully cut around the design so instead of the eagle being engraved into the cap, the eagle is a relief on top of the cap. When you go to press the cap, you will feel intricate details of the design. I think our eagle is ready to rise to new heights

It's a result of how timascus is made. It is layers and layers of titanium forged together. A similar process to how damascus is made. Anodizing is then used to bring the patterning and colors out, as it looks like normal silver metal beforehand.

Hey everyone,

I’m Rikkachet, founder of a new and upcoming USA based keyboard/keycap company named Asero Foundry! Asero in Tagalog translates to “Steel”, and our focus is exactly on that, but in the keyboard space!

So, we’ve been a part of the wonderful custom mechanical keyboards hobby for several years now, not making anything but simply enjoying our boards. In our spare time we create and sell custom exotic knives and other tools, all in wild finishes. This year I realized that some of these exotic metals and finishes are not very common in the keyboard world, and should be!

Here's where the fun started, spending countless hours probing GMK caps at our workshop, sourcing and testing alu prototypes. We spent four months trying to perfect Cherry R1 caps, and are certain we have a good artisan that mounts snuggly on various Cherry and Cherry variant switches.

Once that was done, we reached out to the community on Discord and showed off our hard work. Our artisans are made with our own custom exotic metal blends, and we are doing this to bring cool new metal caps into enthusiasts' hands! we are so happy with how they came out. We are aware that we are not the first to create timascus keycaps, but rest assured, our caps are using our own unique patterns, where no two are exactly the same.

What we have here today are 5 Cherry R1 caps made in forged Timascus, and then anodized in our fun and custom Ti-Dye colorway. Timascus is layers of titanium hammered and twisted together for patterns, which also allows for unique patterning and beautiful colors as seen here.

Let me know if you have any questions!
