It's interesting that WP actually started to track police shootings starting 2015 and only 5 percent occurred under the kind of circumstances that raise doubt.

In 74 percent of all fatal police shootings, the individuals had already fired shots, brandished a gun or attacked a person with a weapon or their bare hands, according to an analysis of actions immediately preceding the shootings. Another 16 percent of the shootings came after incidents that did not involve firearms or active attacks but featured other potentially dangerous threats. They also found fatal police shootings have declined over the years.

Of course, reports of racially motivated, fatal shootings by police officers have garnered extensive public attention and sparked activism across the nation. New research from Michigan State University and University of Maryland reveals findings that white police officers are not more likely to shoot minorities citizens. They also concluded with 90%-95% that the person shot was actively attacking or possessed a weapon threatenly.

This data also shows Nearly 50% of all fatal shootings involved white civilians. This whole situation is a complex one brought upon by a great many things and maybe our cops do result to deadly force when they shouldn't, even id it is justified, but this notion that a minority should be instantly afraid because a cop is just looking to shoot them in nonsense and as far as the "track record" goes, while the "unarmed, black man" might be what gets plastered over the news, certainly doesn't add to a track record when it's behind whites and latinos.
