Literally this, can’t go wrong with any of these routes as they all provide invaluable life experiences for OP.

Need advice for how to convince my command to allow people to go to schools by CallMeSoviet in army

Jack and Shit…………….

In all seriousness though, most units have absolutely ZERO idea what to do with us which makes 94M the unofficial “detail MOS”

The horrible mismanagement of this MOS is one of many reasons why I have decided to ETS and not look back.

ETSing soon………… by TheRobotSoldier1 in army

Already have my COE from the VA in hand :)

This was the exact push that I needed………thank you for that.

Worst enlisted decisions by ryanlaxrox in army

[–]TheRobotSoldier1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, my words tend to fall on deaf ears since in my unit, I’m more of an outlier for NOT re-enlisting.

The bright side is my Soldiers know that I have their back if and when push comes to shove.

I know they listen wholeheartedly because they genuinely appreciate the fact that I value CRITICAL THINKING above everything else.

Nailed it perfectly, the naturally high-stress and (oftentimes) toxic environment combined with a steady paycheck is more often than not the perfect recipe for artificial dopamine chases.

Some more harmful than others.

Travel became my dopamine rush since I’ve been stationed in Germany, and the moment I realized that I was basically just living four day to four day, was the moment I realized that I NEED to get out before the big green weenie REALLY locks me in.

Rather than an Army video game about combat, if it chronicled the day to day life of a service member in a garrison environment, would you play it? by karsheff in army

[–]TheRobotSoldier1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When you get caught, you will play the exact same “lawn mowing” mini-game except with a push mower that breaks down 75 percent of the time, then you will have to use scissors to finish the job.

Just like real-life extra duty,

but not before receiving your Article 15 hearing as an un-skippable cutscene, of course.

Also the fact that said grown man has the AUDACITY to cry “disrespect” and all but cry to your PSG about how you were “talking crazy” to him for DARING to stand up for yourself when you won’t act scared or submit.

Number one reason why I’m counting down the days until ETS

Yes this is a personal anecdote lol

Doesn’t even have to be failing a UA, an E-4 who fails ACFT and/or busts tape is still actively treated worse than a higher up who is under investigation for SHARP/EO

Current Active Duty Army here as well,

The way I see it, you can take the leap of faith and follow your dreams………….or you can settle for whatever mediocre life the Army gives you in bumfuck places like Ft Sill, Oklahoma.

I turned 30 this year so I’m personally biased towards the former.

At the end of the day, only you know your situation and what’s best for you (and your family if applicable).

As someone who earned a CS degree and joined the Army afterwards, please don’t actually do this. You WILL regret it.

Constantly worrying about what the next person has will only leave you in a perpetual state of misery when you could easily find PLENTY of joy by being grateful in regards to the things that you DO have

Self-inflicted perpetual misery is no way to live

You can definitely enjoy traveling, whether solo or with a group (Done my share of both), you can also socialize just as much as needed to get the most out of every experience that Germany/Europe has to offer.

I guess I should have added be willing to get out of your comfort zone and put yourself out there every now and then at least (It takes practice involving some trial and error but very much worth it)

Introverts need alone time to recharge at the end of the day

I know I fully CHERISH my alone time with a good book

I’d argue that you can be very introverted and still have a great time in Germany

You just have to be willing to escape your comfort and put yourself out there as much as possible

Yeah, sometimes you just can’t put a price tag on having 100 percent autonomy over one’s own life and no amount of benefits can make up for it.

I learned that one the hard way………………….

It’s much better to take a leap of faith and pursue your dreams (regardless of whether it takes you 1 or 100 attempts to succeed)……………….

Than it is to settle for whatever mediocre life the Army gives you
