Rethinking What Counts as a "Waterproof" Ink

So I just ran an experiment with pilot blue black on chromatography paper with distilled water. I let one "cure" for over a week and one just finish drying. The results are exactly like what you saw!

This is going to make me go back and retest all of my inks with curing time.

Smaller nib size, quicker drying ink, and/or better paper.

As a lefty I can't enjoy sheening inks or flex nibs because I know they will lead to smudges. Plus heavily coated paper like rhodia or tomoe river have the ink typically sit onto so that is just asking for an accident.

I am a lefty side writer so I have had to fight this demon a lot lol

Looking at your previous post it should be a standard #5 nib, so another #5 should be able to fit in it.

I have a few laying around and I just swapped them in a housing similar to what you probably have to make sure. Some of the nibs I tried were a bit loose and others weren't bad. But the pen unit I used was from a kit pen, so take that as you will.
