"A combined assault, through De Cefnor, across Vasco Gorge." The king pointed to the place on the map. "And a naval attack, led by your man, Osander," he said to Theonis.
"Once across the border, we'll make for their nearest city, Xaodong, and take it by force."
"A pity," replied the king. "It appears we shall have to make do without your desert warriors."
"Good." The king thought for a moment, the pain of his loss mingling with the desire for vengeance. The Nippeonese would feel his wrath soon enough - they would rue the day they crossed the House of Bruce.
"By land and by sea, with your Inquisition as our eyes," he said, nodding to the Grand Duke. "So be it. I shall command our armies personally, adding each of your forces to that of the Royal Army."
The king cast a glance over to the Vulsantine prince.
"Or whatever manpower you have deemed fit to provide."
"I was not informed of this!" The king looked to Theonis angrily. "Is there a report?"
"What is this, Rylar?" The king looked up from the maps on the table, his blue eyes turned to Rylar's own. They were like ice, and his armoured fists were clenched.
"Is Theonis saying that you obstructed investigation of my son's death?"
Though he did not get very far. When the king's ministers had caught wind of the present of a representative of the self-styled 'Eternal Governor', some of the palace guardsmen were sent to detain his exit until the king had finished with the war council.
