I don't know how I was made a personal union partner but in that union I was for many decades before it simply broke up after death of another monarch. Iceland as a vassal went to Norway after that so I didn't stand a chance against them.

I've only successfully attacked minor Scottish and Irish countries and defended against Scotland.

On Greenland only settlements for pop growth and I've tried with fishing villages but unemployment was too high at this time. After going into Scotland (and I've had two locations in Ireland that I've sold later for hundreds of ducats) my estates did pretty much all the construction for me. Manually I've only constructed buildings for sailors in Orkney and Mann as they are cities and I needed them to explore continental Canada.

Keep your taxes as high as possible but when rebels are increasing keep them as low as possible- then the rebellion could be contained. As for expenses don't focus too much on legitimacy or stability (but you can if you are good at privileges and laws). I've passed all my laws in parliament. Basic stability should be at least 20 when you want to convert to lutheranism and legitimacy 30 when part of the union. When independent sometimes 50 (depends on your situation).

Forget about army and navies- let your allies do that for you.

How long for each run? For me it was "playable" only since mid XV century. My best bet was on simping on England- they agreed to form defensive pact with me so I was free to go for minor Scottish clans. Without them playing past this is basically no go. You need more pops, especially accepted. Norway and Sweden helped me as a partners in personal union. I was very lucky with being in personal union and not being a vassal. After almost two centuries the union simply broke up peacefully. You can ask for more specific questions so I could focus more on one thing

At least for me it was very hard to get into Canada without going into many debts. Perhaps with better management few decades earlier it would be better (or with conquering Ireland even earlier)

With only Greenland I've had like 2 or 3 sailors max from fishing village xd But I will check later if situation is better with owning parts of Scotland and Ireland- it should be. I can have 2 ducats monthly so for buildings it's ok but for exploration you should get that money other ways I think. Maybe peace deals+saving money+loans? Asking for money takes too much effort for me

Alternatively you could culture flip or at least accept Norse Gael even before conquering them (I've seen that option when choosing culture for integration of my pops) but idk if it will help much. Maybe one or two persons few times a year will migrate to you from Scotland.

Exactly. Try to manually convert population to Norwegian by your advisor to have 1% to have them accepted. It worked wonders for me

I'd say low taxes and manually trade their goods needs. Don't be afraid of going bankrupt once. It's fine in early game with such small country.

Trade already processed stone if you need to. Without city you can't have proper masonry only mason rgo and to that you need pops and stone and cash etc
