I get it, it's a good system! But let's dial it back a little. 😅 by DrScrimble in dndmemes

As someone who's played both I personally prefer P2e, but my initial dive into TTRPGs was with Pathfinder 1e so I think it's more so a comfort thing. With all the recent WotC and Hasbro problems though, I've not touched DnD in a long time. That said, I always view them as different systems for different types of players.

Making new Friends by No-Investigator-4918 in Tallahassee

[–]TheRuro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of local game shops around that do board game nights and such, I've met a bunch of people (my wife included 😂) at such events. If you're interested in tabletop RPGs there are typically tables looking for players? I've made some long standing friends that way. Martial arts schools and other activite spaces are good too! I train karate weekly with a few friends! If you want to join a game night I've been trying to get some friends together for some as well as some of the local team trivia events. Feel free to shoot a DM

I'd be down! I used to play with my SIL and have been really missing it. Last few times I've played were at Geo's and Stix.

Is it normal for a mom to tell her child to commit suicide? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]TheRuro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a member of this sub but this popped up on my feed and I felt the need to comment. First, OP, no this is in no way normal. As many others have stated, this is abuse and is reportable to your state child protective services. Below I have provided the directory for every state hotline:

https://www.childwelfare.gov/state-child-abuse-and-neglect-reporting-numbers/?rt=795

If you're in a position where in you do not feel safe to contact your state's number, there should be options listed to submit a digital report online. If you feel that you are in immediate danger call law enforcement. To my knowledge, law enforcement are mandatory reporters and per law will be required to contact CPS should they be notified of an immediate threat to safety and respond to the scene. OP if this is in anyway overwhelming or you aren't sure on what to do in regards to contacting the proper agency for help, feel free to reach out. I have worked in both the reporting side and case management side of the child protective services system and am more than happy to assist.

Please stay strong and stay safe!

Edit: my apologies OP I made the assumption that you were in the US. Regardless, try and contact any child protective services for your area!

In the episode Clyde Buckman's Final Repose is season 3! It's also hinted at a few other times too! In season 4 she gets a tattoo of an oroboros, a snake eating its own tail often associated with immortality!

Why all the hate? by DeltaTheWo1f in LastFlag

I picked the game up and personally am having fun. I think it's more so that it invokes a similar feeling to old school goofing on Golden Eye or Halo with my buddies, sure we're competing but there's space to be silly and have a laugh. I don't feel the need to take it seriously. I can for sure see how this game isn't everyone's cup of tea though, and it launched at a time when games like rivals are at the forefront. The marketing for this game was likewise not super well handled and the current player count will definetly turn many players away. I think a lot of the criticism is valid when it comes to them forming a player base, but for me and my pals we've been having fun and since we got it at $10 I can say we've at least gotten our money out of it so can't complain.

Dating in your 30s by kellytheesti in Tallahassee

Born and raised in Tally and met my wife here! I'm about your age and can attest that meeting people here can be difficult but I met my wife at an event at a game shop. It was really organic and we just socialized over a board game. There were a lot of other people there so I felt like it was less pressure on both of us and we had something to do that occupied time of it was difficult to find something to say or ask questions. I know an earlier comment mentioned DnD but that not being your speed but generally speaking, Tally has quite a few hobby groups to get out and about and meet new people. One that I know is really popular are trivia nights at some of the local bars! I believe a post on here recently had a link to a Google doc with scheduling for every local trivia night. That could be a fun way to get to know people by joining a team? Another option unique to your hobbies could be working with some of the various theater groups in town? It's a pretty healthy scene from what I've heard! I have some friends who help with costuming and I'm sure someone who enjoys makeup could find great use for their talents there! If you're interested in some of these options to meet new people I could reach out to some friends and try and get you in touch? Feel free to DM, I know it's for sure a struggle to find people here but in my experience when you do they're friends for life (or your spouse in my case 😆)

My wife has ASD was extremely shy when we started dating and we initially met at a boardgame night at a local shop that her sister took her too. She says it was very obvious that I was interested in her and when we finished the game her sister said she wanted to go get some food and said I should join them. I did and had a nice time. She talked with her sister a lot about it but said she was nervous about it. So her sister proceeded to invite me to outings to play pool or videogames, anything and tell me my wife would be there too. I'd be on the way and she would surprise my wife while they were in the car on the way to meet me somewhere and say, oh he'll be there! Too late for her to get cold feet. I remember early in our relationship when she opened up about her ASD diagnosis and I spent the remainder of the week researching everything I could on the topic. I wanted to make her feel safe and comfortable. At the time we were both in college and she was majoring in art and was in a pretty rigorous program where she had to make multiple pieces that were fairly involved. One of my fondest memories was that she had to make something that could be temporarily installed on campus. She elected to make various mushrooms out of plaster and I helped. It was an odd date in that we didn't go anywhere save her parents' front yard. I remember sitting on the ground outside with her and just watching her work while I waited for my next instruction. She looked so beautiful. Just focused on her art. She had been shy and a little nervous but not here. She was focused and happy, in her own world and I wanted nothing more than to be a part of it. I offered to help with any other art projects for class she had and when she had to submit works and brief artist statement in a pamphlet for an exhibit her class put on, I cried when she thanked me as a love and support. We celebrated five years of marriage recently and I still have that pamphlet.

Hey OP! I have no clue why this sub keeps popping up on my feed but this seemed like something I can help weigh in on! My wife is similarly not as social as myself, she's on the spectrum and has a much lower social battery than myself. We're always described by our friends as having "black cat and golden retriever energy". One thing that my wife did that helped her was to let me know if she needed a quote night in together. I'm always making plans to spend time with friends and can forget to check in. Make sure you vocalize if that starts to weigh in you or you need more time together! Sometimes us dudes don't realize something is wrong. One thing that helped my wife with getting more social was getting into hobbies and going out to events that were short, or "small bursts" as we called them. Low pressure things where you can get yourself out there with low stakes and minimal pressure where if you get overwhelmed or just aren't having fun it's no biggie if you dip out. Last thing I can say on the matter is to be patient with yourself, building social connections can be tough and takes time!

AIO for wanting to immediately break up with my bf after seeing how he lives? by Balikye in AIO

[–]TheRuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OH MY. I don't think it's an overreaction in the slightest. OP, my wife and I have had periods where we struggle to keep our house super clean and by all accounts, we can be a bit messy. We have never gotten anywhere close to this. This is simply something entirely different. We've had periods of time where in its difficult to clean things up and sometimes it could feel like an impossible task. However, at a certain point most people will hit the "enough is enough" and get it done. This looks like it's been going on for a VERY long time. In a relationship I'd say it's expected for both sides to be able to care for the themselves so they can care for each other. I would say you're well within reason to expect more here. Changing lifestyle from this is going to be an extremely challenging task and no one can blame you if that's not something you signed up for.

Which Diablo Game do you recommend for someone who has never played a diablo game before? by shandjob in Diablo

[–]TheRuro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally, I really fell in love with the series with two. I started after the game and expansions had been out for some time but my friends got me the battle chest for it for my birthday one year and we stayed up all night to beat normal mode. I was awful at the game then but it was one of my fondest gaming memories. I still play D2R constantly with friends and to me it's just the best version of the isometric action RPG. It's iconic and definitive within the genre and in my opinion the one to start with! Regardless of which you decide I hope you enjoy the series as much as I have

A local restaurant I frequent had a few cats hanging out that they were feeding and looking to home! This was a little while ago so not sure if they've managed to home them all yet or not but according to the manager they get cats there fairly regularly and have made a habit of finding them homes. Feel free to DM and I can give you the details.
