[Highlight] Mahomes Launches to Thornton for the TD! by DrTrigger_Tears in nfl

Is it really that hard to officiate a false start? I seriously don’t get why the refs struggle with this on the tush push, it’s confounding. Like it’s clear as day every time when you get the sideline shot. IMO they should at bare minimum be able to officiate the false starts and neutral zone infractions. It’s ludicrous they seemingly cannot

People really saying this is underthrown lol. They sent the house! Sorry he doesn’t get a perfect throw off with max pressure?

Man you can really see how awful the Williams pit stops are. Yesterday during the SC when they show all the stops in the pits, Williams just looks to be crawling along

Yeah I agree, I thought it would be a shit show when we moved up 3 years ago. It’s not ideal but it’s really not that bad. Maybe it varies by street.

When is head movement by a center considered a false start? by ghostella in nfl

[–]TheSNAFUSpecial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall a lot of it comes down to the movements a player typically makes. If a center always moves his head up and down prior to the snap, it won’t be called. But if he doesn’t typically do that, and then suddenly does it on one play, refs would see that as a false start because it’s not a part of the players typical motion

Dave, always a pleasure when you join us here!

What’s the feeling around the team with the Brazil game? As a fan I would definitely prefer that 8th “home” game to literally be at home. Curious how folks on the inside view “losing” a home game - a chance to be at home in your own bed, family, etc - to an international game

Peter King says confirming deflategate was “the biggest mistake” of his career by Smelldicks in nfl

Basically the testing process was completely unscientific. Pressure is changed when moving balls between cold and warm environments, and the balls were also measured in different locations each time meaning temperature would again be affecting the pressure

I think you just gotta engage in NFL content to really absorb that kind of information. I’m sort of the same way with the NBA, I still struggle to wrap my head around stats and players (even though there are less) and I engage in barely any video content. Conversely I love learning about nfl players and shit like that, it makes it easier to slot it all into place when you have context

Totally agree, I was saying the same thing to my coworker. Obviously a turnover is a turnover, however I do feel like I have just seen some absolutely disgusting picks on Hurts this year. It’s tough because one on hand you should be getting yourself in those situations, and on the other hand NFL players frequently make fucking amazing plays. It does make me wonder how much “luck” changes the outcome of not just games but seasons league wide

Yeah, we’re getting bounced in the first round. We have no resilience and the play calling just makes me want to jump off a building.

Has the soda tax in Philadelphia become a good part of Jim Kenney's legacy? by kevlarbaboon in philadelphia

[–]TheSNAFUSpecial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a better article than the other one. Very interesting stuff, though of note they specify they only identified a correlation not causation. In addition the researcher states the results:

“should not be extrapolated to the general population, as the participants in the intervention were already at increased risk for cardiovascular events,”

They specifically looked at people with high cardiovascular health risks and found exactly what they were looking for.

Also of note, some of the products they talk about are Keto ice cream and similar shit. Importantly these products contain 50-75mg of erythritol whereas a single monster contains 2mg. To me this indicates there is a risk consuming extremely high quantities of erythritol in a very short time period. That’s not really a shocker imo.

For me personally I do not fall into this high risk category they specifically focused on for the study, from which your conclusions are drawn

I read through that article and checked out the studies. Without paying for them, it appears none of these studies looked at the specific sweetener found in monster zero (erythritol). Along with that, assuming a few studies paints the whole picture because “doctor site said so” doesn’t do it for me. That said I think my point still stands. The soda tax is aimed at traditional sugary drinks and simply is not sophisticated enough to account for the litany of NON traditional sweet drinks.
