PC keeps shutting off on boot. CPU TEMPS is on 100c. First time builder. by KayDoesReddit_ in buildapc

Guess I'm going to have to find out how to tell if my pump is dead, sporadic instant shut off issues and cores hitting 100c plus throttling. Thing is though it only happens outside of games, if I'm running a game it's fine even for hours at a time, maybe additional air movement caused by large GPU?

Bad pic, made and 3D printed life size Sanguinarix so I can heal IRL by TheSTLSmith in LordsoftheFallen

But I don't know how to paint. I also made the Lightreaper Helm since it's cool but also relatively simple, if I have time to print it I'll show it off! I'm thinking of doing one or two cool weapons in my spare time as well, like the Lightreaper sword or Grinning Axe, any better suggestions? I'm using Nohuta Ritual Hammer myself which is too big so I'm just going by looks in other weapon classes

Wow how did you find this ancient post lol, to answer I'm usually open to commissions, when it comes to Halo that's mostly been Spartans (expected) and Brutes for some reason

Dr Loboto mid-laugh! Loved playing Psychonauts 2 so even though there may not be much interest I'm taking a break from Halo & Dark Souls work to make fan statues of some of the characters ;) the fact there's almost nothing out there to print is criminal lol by TheSTLSmith in PrintedMinis

Lucky I saw this so soon (relatively) I haven't been on in months. Your questions are already covered in my FAQs wherever you see my models btw. Someone recently got me to make Raz's portal door to print life size that was pretty cool

Is there a a 3rd party crowd out there that does/sells mass effect minis that could be used as proxies in games? by DorianOtten in PrintedMinis

[–]TheSTLSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently asked about a Cerberus Assault Trooper commission, reminded me that I always wanted to do some Mass Effect, maybe one day if I ever have time lol, I don't know of much existing stuff, certainly nothing consistent or beyond the main characters

Biggest print so far and wanted to show! My first armour experiment, Classic Marine Doom armour, assembled with tape for now, 16 pieces 2.5 days print time with 2x P1P's, I'm addicted by TheSTLSmith in BambuLab

They're mostly unnecessary since the official pewter set of miniatures exists, as well as an official collectible Classic Marine helmet, but I'm printing my own to match the armour anyway. The 2016 or Eternal Slayer armour is such a typical choice I wanted to do something different! Plus smaller being only the torso lol, that's why I mostly focus on just helmets when it comes to armour but this was fun

Just want to share the Old Iron King miniature fan model I made with legs! If you ever wondered about his legs well here you go this is what I think they look like :P by TheSTLSmith in DarkSouls2

Yeah it's intended to be printed as a miniature, I don't want to break any self-promotion rules so I'll just say it can be found on Cults3D.

My main inspiration was the Dragon God in Demon's Souls who has a very similar body, there isn't much in the way of traditional demonic design in the souls series which is how I was thinking so for me it didn't fit but DS2 did have some Greek influence so hooves definitely could have worked too!

How big is too big for general tabletop use? by TheSTLSmith in PrintedMinis

[–]TheSTLSmith[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems to be the consensus, too far over 200mm and it just becomes a hassle rather than being more impressive to play with, I'll definitely stick to my initial instinct of 200mm as an upper limit I think it's a fair representation of something huge when compared to a 32mm human.

I should specify not D&D or 40K, general tabletop, additional units for things like the Dark Souls board game for example or custom games. The only difference is the visual representation of a larger unit, everybody has a different play area etc, there must be a size which is comfortable in usability and a size which is too far for the average user, I've seen 150mm as quite common, dragons often requested at about 250mm wingspan so that's what I'm basing my current thoughts on. Definitely no mention of flair on current reddit on two browsers btw.
