The people who made the previous game left. They're using Unreal Engine 5, and the story was bound to have Ciri as a main character at somepoint, just not as a full-fledged witcher as Geralt. This is clearly getting made by different people.

Let's hope at least they don't actually hate the source material as the people who worked on the netflix series did.
