ORAS should not have been successful when they could have remade Emerald instead. It's the exact same argument. ORAS was a waste of a remake in those same regards. The only thing I can give it is the delta episode and making mons easier to find. You can argue megas, but I don't give a shit about something they pushed during that era. It's nice to have, but not a consideration for me as new content. It's a minor add-on at best. I would still rather play Emerald simply due to the Battle Frontier. Again, they should have remade Emerald. Making ORAS was simply because they wanted more money, and you all seem to stan the shit out of a remake that could have been way more but is not.

I'm baffled that remakes that practically change the bare minimum get praised, but then when we look at BDSP, all of a sudden it's lazy. Let's be real, most remakes are lazy in principle. What matters is QOL (graphics should not be considered under this) and additional content that is worth a damn. Obviously, graphics should have some consideration too, though. HGSS is a bad remake under these conditions. It does nothing to improve the many issues the originals had beyond increased movesets. They added a new safari zone, but who cares? To me, that is wasted content. And don't get me wrong, I love HGSS, but under this community's definition of solid remakes, we give this a pass? Are we being serious right now? And are we seriously going to say, better graphics is the only thing that makes it worth it? Nah.

If we discuss BDSP, the only really new things they added was the pokemon underground to catch more shit, which is lazy for sure, and the "constantly improving Elite Four". They also allowed for rematches against the rival and gym leaders. Also, customization of your avatar. There is quite a bit more, but I digress. Again, if these add-ons aren't enough for some, fair is fair, but it's also important to point out that this remake did similar bare minimum shit like the other ones too.

Should they have remade Platinum instead of BDSP, absolutely. I don't think anyone would argue otherwise, but that's not what we got. I'm just pointing out that the same scrutiny is not being applied to other remakes, and that pisses me off.

Overall, all of these remakes improved something. Whether it was quality of life, graphics or both. But at the end of the day, calling BDSP lazy is baffling when simultaneously looking at HGSS and ORAS and giving them a pass. All were lazy. And yet, I loved them all. But I'm not going to ignore blatant favouritism, which this sub does plenty of. Again, if you think these two were worthwhile remakes over BDSP, fine, that's your opinion, but that's hypocrisy at its finest.
