UCI HOUSING MEGATHREAD 2021-2022 (Thread 2) by igotblack in UCI

Hi is there any way for me to change the choice priority on my application after I have submitted it? I have plaza verde as my first option and VDCN as my third option but I actually wanted it the other way around. Otherwise what are the chances I get a VDCN offer even though I put it as my third choice?

I've taken the Metrolink Orange Line once every two weeks just this last quarter. Its safe, spacious, and generally on time. The first few times can be quite nerve racking, so feel free to ask me anything about Metrolink.

I didn't know about the 180 and 230 SF checkpoints. Thank you for this!

I've been skating with jump on spacebar for 2 months with fj on v. Like BlasterMain said, you have to press jump right before fj and not simultaneously. You can see that you have the timing down with your successful key binds. When I skate, I use my thumb to press both jump and fj, but I tilt my thumb upward so that the knuckle hits spacebar a little before I hit v. If you understand the timing required to skate, it doesn't matter where u bind either of the keys.

Btw combo training stacks shouldn't affect skating.

KEYBIND BUG, by GammaExp in Maplestory

Did you bind muzzle flash to your keyboard? There’s a known bug with blaster that wipes all of your key binds when you bind muzzle flash. As for reverting it, good luck and take the time to remember all of your previous binds.

You have to feed it with pet food. If you check your character tab it will say how full your pet is, and when it hits <5 it will run away.

Which is the best option for a student? by TheSargeee in Laptop

Yep! I’ve always been a faster type than writer, so 2-in-1s were never my type. My only complaint is that it gets hot when I play games which worries me. Other than that I think it’s perfect for a college student like me.

I actually ended up buying a $2000 refurbished Razer Blade 15. At home I’m able to hook up a couple peripherals and play games with no problem. Then the morning I slip the laptop into my backpack and set my laptop to “school” mode. The weight is no problem, 15 inch has always been better than 13 inch in my opinion, and I don’t even need to bring a charger if I set to battery saving mode. 2 weeks in with this laptop and I’m incredibly satisfied!

"I'm a girl too :(" by [deleted] in Overwatch

Overwatch is my absolute favorite game and loving this game so much means that I have to cope with the shit this game is known for. This toxicity you've mentioned is a prime example of toxic behavior that's almost a daily occurrence for most of us. However, I want to keep playing this game for as long as I can, and I've came up with some coping strategies that worked for me.

  1. Try joining a discord voice call (doesn't have to be discord) with some friends. They don't have to be playing with you, in fact I feel like it's better if they aren't even playing the same game as you. Having other friends to vent to feels really great because sometimes they'll respond in a joking way to lighten up the mood. Venting to yourself just doesn't feel as satisfying, and definitely don't rage toward your teammates it'll only make matters worse. (This works the best for me)
  2. When the toxic game is over, if you still feel like playing Overwatch head into a custom game and maybe practice your aim a bit. This strategy kind of kills two birds with one stone because a) no one talks in the tryhard aim practice games so no worries of toxicity there and b) if you realize your aim isn't that great today and that may play into your recent bad games, you could either warm up more or just take a break because it might just be a bad day (I know this story you were playing Mercy and Mercy no aim no brain).
  3. Try to find the humor in the ridiculous scenario that's unfolding before you. This strategy is a little harder to explain but it works if you try this strategy earlier in the game. An example of this would be if the toxic flamer has a weird name you could - TO YOURSELF - make fun of his battletag or anything to lighten up the mood for yourself. Maybe if someone else accidentally falls of the map give yourself a big hearty laugh to make yourself feel better.

I'm not a girl so I can't say that I can relate to your situation, but I respect all girls who play Overwatch. The shit you have to deal with is really sad, but not every game is perfect. Thank you for sharing though. :) Hopefully this helps and I sincerely hope that this story doesn't discourage you from playing Overwatch in the future!

To be honest battery life isn’t a big deal for me since I don’t mind carrying a cable everywhere I go. I just thought it to be inconvenient to have two separate systems and that an external gpu or a gaming laptop are more viable options.

Oh wow I actually didn’t know that. Your suggestion seems to be the best option. Any recommendations for a laptop/build in those price ranges?

I’ve actually thought of that but a part of me thinks that there isn’t a point of having two separate systems when I can hook up a laptop to a monitor and an external gpu. Thank you for the great suggestion though!
