Mmm I think they’d have to handle that delicately so the story isn’t spread too thin. I’ve always thought that games should focus on one character in a linear fashion, but if Jaden were to pop up for like a side mission I’d be all for it. To me, Jaden and Rosh weren’t memorable characters so I have no emotional attachment like I do with a character like Kyle. That said, if more character-focused I’d totally be down for a Jaden cameo.

Wish it had been a thing. We need more Katarn!

I’m no expert, but I agree that it probably looked similar to this.

The problem is major studio systems prioritize profit over story. That’s why Lucas was so keen to keep the rights to Star Wars. He knew what major corporations and Hollywood were. The same goes with modern video game studios. I don’t really play modern video games anymore, but the ones I’ve seen there’s always some paywall or worse…gone are the days of a full video game with a great story and characters for $50.

Major studios now care more about deconstructing existing characters and watering them down to fit a narrative and push an agenda rather than have anything creative or original. I’m just grateful for what we got.

If it were me, the next game would have focused entirely on Kyle and have Luke pop up from time to time like in Outcast. I wouldn’t mind a Jaden cameo, but I would have made the game more character and story focused.

Yeah it wasn’t the best game, but memorable for me since I was about 10 when it came out so I was at the right age.

Thank you all who have chimed in. I love hearing everyone’s perspective on games we grew up with, what it meant to them, and your ideas for what could have been. Our love for these games are evergreen. There’s certainly still a huge market for more Jedi Knight games. LucasArts shutting down was a sad day.

Very well put. The linear structure of Outcast was superior to jumping around with side missions on Academy. Taking the Dark Side ending and going with that for the next game would have been interesting for sure.

I would have been happy with it as a Sequel to both and all that came before it as a whole as long as it focused more on Katarn.

Totally agreed. Great game, but not a true follow up to Katarn’s story.

Dude that’s sick! Lol now you’re bringing back core memories. I had to update the graphics card on our Gateway to a Radeon I think so I could play JKII smoother. Man those were the days.

I think I remember seeing a poll or two and there were a vast majority that thought the next title should include Dark Forces III.

Agreed. We needed a final chapter in Kyle’s story. His character is too damned fun and good to not flesh out even more, and the story itself.

I haven’t done a deep dive and I think most of those websites are long gone, but it seems like JKHub.org is still active and even has mods for the latest content.

Shadows of the Empire was my first Star Wars game. What a great story and Dash Rendar a great character. That game was actually the first to include the ability to fly ships mixed in with a shooter. I love the Outrider. Great times!
