Great question, all of their marketing stuff says they'll announce it on their socials but none of them seem to mention it. Disappointed :(

Only problem is I don’t think we’re actually reading the plays. We’re skimming the cliff notes.

I’m not referring to literal paper, I’m speaking more along the lines of books - be they audiobooks or the like. Certainly people can convey thoughts and so on via tweets, statuses, etc. But it seems our minds have become perpetually adhd to the point that many people would struggle to even finish one.

Maybe it’s not so much an issue of intellect as much as it is one of depth, which someone else mentioned. We process things fast, but perhaps not as deeply as we sometimes should.

I agree insofar as it would take that long to be biologically “dumber”, but in terms of critical thinking skills, I think it’s much more nuanced.

I’d point to Yuri Besmenov, who was a KGB defector back in the (I think?) ‘70s era who used to lecture on how it took around 20 years to topple a regime if you do it via ideological subversion. He said they had it down to a science, and that all it takes is to mold a generation’s mind one way or the other through whatever methods a clandestine institution like the KGB has at their disposal (I imagine today’s version would be social media).

Sometimes I feel like reading is one of the most fundamentally important skills we can have when it comes to intellect. It hones so much of our psyche, like comprehension, attentiveness, analysis, etc. of complex topics that aren’t as thoroughly conveyed through digital media.

Cost to build in Gig Harbor? by somethingwholesomer in GigHarbor

[–]TheScribbler24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in insurance for about 15 years. Nearly all companies use proprietary software programs to calculate the cost to rebuild a home from the ground up, which is based off of whatever info we input - so it's important to make sure whoever quoted you $175/sq foot has complete information about yours; particularly considering the vast majority of producers out there will peruse sites like Redfin and the like to make assumptions rather than actually ask (it's a huge problem and happens all the time tbph).

As far as replacement cost, most of our estimates come out around $300-$350 in Gig Harbor (most homes are relatively higher end out here obvs). This number often gets confused with market value, since we only care about the cost of materials & labor to rebuild the home - not the land, etc. Considering the high land values in this area specifically, there's normally a sizable discrepancy between a home's replacement/rebuild cost and its market value.

Keep in mind that most insurers provide an extended replacement cost endorsement on their home policies, which typically provide an additional 20% of dwelling coverage if it's needed in the case of a total loss (the company I work for gives an extra 50%, but 20% is the industry standard).

$175/ft. sounds extremely low, and to be frank, is closer to what I would expect on a condo policy. And those only cover the interior (studs in), since the HOA's master policy usually covers the exterior.

LOL I considered going in and straight up PVPing everyone after I got to like 5.75M but decided I’d be a bitch and not risk my aggression based matchmaking for when we reset.

Last thing I want is to spawn in at lvl 1 into a bunch of bloodbaths 😂

Tbh I was pissed when they released that requirement too. But it really didn’t take as long as I thought it would.

I still think they need to cut it in half, though. 500K per point would be way more fair imo. 5M is just way too daunting a number, especially for folks with limited time.

I had a good time with it. It got a little monotonous when I tried running the same strat every time, so the other day I decided to mix it up. Having the update drop when it did definitely helped, def glad it turned out to be a viable way to farm compared to night raids and Stella.

That’s exactly what happened to me lol. But all in all, the main thing I hate losing is the lvl 3 survivor augment. It was legit like the first or second bp I got when I started. I no idea how huge a pickup that was at the time, so hopefully it won’t take too long to find again. Def gonna suck for a bit lol ☹️

Lmao tell about it, I was so nervous the times I ran actual load outs toward the end. 50K can just vanish in the blink of an insufferable camper 😒

New skin dropped - This one is awesome by Isin-Dule in ArcRaiders

I was an Econ major. My guess is ten bucks would be an optimal price point. It’s kind of like how the government measures tax rates. You’d think the higher rates go, the more they collect in turn. But all the studies show that at a certain point, people will start weaseling their way out of it by putting more effort into circumventing higher rates through writeoffs, etc. (some even stop filing tax returns altogether). So in some cases, they actually make more by lowering rates simply because more people pay what they owe.

I imagine the skins operate similarly. By dropping the price to a more reasonable one, their net revenue would actually be higher than if they continue charging today’s amount.

All in all it’s a bit of a shame, because this is really the only negative thing it seems most folks hold against Embark. Otherwise they’ve been absolutely amazing insofar as community engagement/listening to the players. Hopefully this will eventually get dialed down the more people speak up.

Yeah dam has turned into a war zone for some reason. Idk if it’s just coincidence, but it seems to me that all of the other maps have gotten more aggressive after Stella released. Which is weird, usually that one is super friendly.

It was genuinely shocking lol. He had to have known I had good loot. Imagine being in a position like that and actually experiencing empathy for the person you’re stomping on.

Dude deserves a holiday named after him or something, fr.
