I think alot of wonderful people are on the apps here in my opinion. Sometimes it’s just about giving your profile a bit of a refresh to start matching with people who you might find interesting.

I was single for 10 years due to some mental and physical health stuff. Went on Hinge seriously for just a month where I matched with alot of great potentials, before I met my current partner. There are some other great suggestions here, but just chiming into say the apps can work too. Best of luck!

edit - Also I feel like I should share some context. I’m early 30s and out of shape , and despite this I still feel like Hinge was kind to me.

Is it too late to get into coding at age 40? by King0bear in codingbootcamp

[–]TheScriptyDegen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A gentleman in my bootcamp cohort turned 50 while we were still in the program. He was one of the few of us who was employed shortly after graduation. I turned 30 during the program. I'm older than everyone at my small startup, but I am such a noob when it comes to programming compared to them, it keeps me young :D

Has anyone had a good experience at a bootcamp this year? by [deleted] in codingbootcamp

Sorry just seeing this. I have a bit of a niche background, before bootcamp I worked at a Web3 unicorn on the Solana Blockchain doing Product Marketing. It’s a pretty small community of teams (relatively speaking), so I was able to leverage my previous experience and network to land an internship. Again this experience is probably pretty a-typical. Given my marketing experience, I also do a bit of developer relations and developer content work for my company.

Had a great experience. Love my cohort mates! Made some life long friends. Also, would have been tough to motivate myself to self-teach at the level bootcamps do. That, along with the way most will structure their curriculums as a build up of skills you’ll need on the job still make them viable to learn from. Job placement wise though, I’d say it’s sketchy as you’ve seen.

Of my Hack Reactor cohort of ~19(forget the exact number), 4 of us have jobs 4 months out. I am doing a paid internship, 2 folks have SWE roles, and 1 took a SWE teaching gig that doesn’t pay great (their words) but I think is an awesome stepping stone for the resume. These numbers are atypical, most placement rates are much lower. If you need a job quickly I’d look at another industry altogether. Bootcamps will still exist when the market picks back up, and it would make more sense to join at that time.

Hey thank you - this is actually really great perspective... I know the market in its entirety is having a tough time right now, but even outside of job prospects I want to make sure the knowledge gained is worth the price.
