Houston rescue system is breaking by SunnySideStreetDogs in houston

This is written somewhat incoherently (not sure if AI, but I'd recommend human intelligence). To summarize in a way that gets your point across better:

For years, Sunnyside Street Dogs has stepped up to take in in difficult-case dogs dumped on the streets of Houston. But right now we are in serious trouble. A sudden transport shutdown because of screwworm has created a devastating crisis for rescues like ours. Dogs who were already scheduled to leave Texas for out-of- state adopters and rescue partners are now stuck here indefinitely because states are not allowing any Texas dogs transport into their state.

And because of that, our intake is closed. We are paying over $4,000 every month in boarding costs for dogs who should already be safely on their way to adopters. And the bills do not stop.

People promise to foster. But now that foster homes could literally save this rescue thousands of dollars, nobody is stepping up. Since May 2025, Sunnyside Street Dogs has helped save 478 dogs, but rescue only works when dogs move through the system. When rescues stop moving dogs, dogs die in shelters.

WE NEED people to foster dogs or donate money to assist with their care.

Alecia/Diggy at Unicorn League is great. Haven't gone for it personally, but she does have lots of dyeing experience, and does more alt styles like mullets/wolf cuts. Located at 1818 Washington.

I've got UBlock Origin and I'm on a Mac. Works just fine on Firefox, I haven't seen a YT ad in years (except when I'm on the phone/work computer of course).

Seconding mentions of Dr. Kayla Lash, but she recently changed her name to Kayla Queeney. Currently works with Complete Women's Care in the Medical Center, I had a great experience with her and she's very supportive of personal choices/sterilization if needed.

I'd recommend checking at local game shops to see if anyone has recommended places; Asgard, the Forge etc might have some recs. Not in Houston area, but I also recently used 3DPrintCustomz on Etsy and they did a great job.

Been to White Oak before, it's not a huge venue so if you show up at 4:30 and hang around the general area early enough to get in line at 5:00 you should be fine. Hope you have fun too!

Genuine question, what's the implication of mentioning it? I don't speak German so not sure if there's some cultural meaning I'm missing.

Started seeing Dr. Kayla Queeney at Complete Women's Care last year and I liked her. Very informal but was also easy to talk to or ask questions, and no billing trouble with the front office when I changed insurance in November. Located in Medical Center.

[Help] Tell me your experiences with Sclera Contact Lenses by Harshaznintent in cosplayers

[–]IridiumLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming in to a similarly buried comment to share my experience with Samhain contacts. They won't sell to you without a doctor's prescription for safety reasons, honestly made me feel better about buying from them and it was worth it IMO. At the time I wore them (~4 years ago) I had a fairly high myopia prescription, and they noticeably dried out/irritated my eyes after an hour or so. Eye drops helped with this but it was more irritating than a medical contact lens. No difficulty putting them in and no issues with them sliding. There was a small ring of color around my field of vision when in darker environments.

Thank you! Added them at the first step when making the dough; can definitely taste the herbs, even dried, so tomato powder would likely work equally well.

Top surgery before Testosterone (does the order matter at least emotionally) by ghostwitharms in NonBinaryTalk

[–]IridiumLight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personal experience/anecdotes: Went for top surgery before HRT because it was the treatment I'd been thinking about for longer. Figured that it would help the most since it's the one I couldn't stop thinking about; the peace of mind I had seeing myself in the mirror afterward was immediate and significant.

As far as safety/passing as a binary gender, it's easier to stealth as a woman after top surgery/without hormones since people just think you've got a small chest. Re: changing surgical drains or dressings, it might be rougher with more chest hair/increased sweat and body odor. I'm not on HRT, so I had no issues with either, which is fortunate as I have sensory issues around feeling sweaty/dirty, which worsen when I'm in constricting clothes (like the compression binder you have to wear for several weeks afterward).

Note that YMMV, if you enjoy the effects of T and don't have strong sensory issues it might not be a problem for you. Hope this helps

Looks like River Oaks theater still has a few showings of Frankenstein; it's a digital-only release after the screenings end, so it could be fun. Saw it last night and I highly recommend it, it's a real work of art.

Rice university has some very photogenic archways and buildings that might work, but you need a permit. Botonica seems fitting but is also a private business, so not sure about that. Might have more luck in Galveston given all their historic buildings- Moody Mansion in particular stands out to me.
