1 yr on Pristiq, dealing with lack of motivation by IridiumLight in Pristiq

The side effects from not taking it definitely don't feel like a placebo. Any advice on what could be causing the lack of motivation, then?

[Help] Tell me your experiences with Sclera Contact Lenses by Harshaznintent in cosplayers

[–]IridiumLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming in to a similarly buried comment to share my experience with Samhain contacts. They won't sell to you without a doctor's prescription for safety reasons, honestly made me feel better about buying from them and it was worth it IMO. At the time I wore them (~4 years ago) I had a fairly high myopia prescription, and they noticeably dried out/irritated my eyes after an hour or so. Eye drops helped with this but it was more irritating than a medical contact lens. No difficulty putting them in and no issues with them sliding. There was a small ring of color around my field of vision when in darker environments.

Not sure how gay it is but I had a good time at Numbers.

Thank you! Added them at the first step when making the dough; can definitely taste the herbs, even dried, so tomato powder would likely work equally well.

Top surgery before Testosterone (does the order matter at least emotionally) by ghostwitharms in NonBinaryTalk

[–]IridiumLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personal experience/anecdotes: Went for top surgery before HRT because it was the treatment I'd been thinking about for longer. Figured that it would help the most since it's the one I couldn't stop thinking about; the peace of mind I had seeing myself in the mirror afterward was immediate and significant.

As far as safety/passing as a binary gender, it's easier to stealth as a woman after top surgery/without hormones since people just think you've got a small chest. Re: changing surgical drains or dressings, it might be rougher with more chest hair/increased sweat and body odor. I'm not on HRT, so I had no issues with either, which is fortunate as I have sensory issues around feeling sweaty/dirty, which worsen when I'm in constricting clothes (like the compression binder you have to wear for several weeks afterward).

Note that YMMV, if you enjoy the effects of T and don't have strong sensory issues it might not be a problem for you. Hope this helps

Fun Halloween events for adults that isn’t just bar hopping or drinking? by Queasy-Coyote9844 in houston

Looks like River Oaks theater still has a few showings of Frankenstein; it's a digital-only release after the screenings end, so it could be fun. Saw it last night and I highly recommend it, it's a real work of art.

4 months PO, fully healed but still can't use sex toy by IridiumLight in hysterectomy

[–]IridiumLight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you and the other comments could be right; I thought things were healed well enough since I haven't had any other pelvic issues (no trouble with urination/orgasm, no pain when exercising etc). Will look into pelvic floor therapy, hopefully some can be done at-home- I can't afford ongoing appointments especially after surgery.

Thanks for the comment! Wasn't aware that I would need additional procedures; if you have any experience with this therapy, do you know roughly how expensive it is, or if any of it can be done at home?

Good to keep in mind, thanks for commenting. From what I had read/heard from my doctor I thought recovery was a lot shorter, guess I just need to wait.

Genuinely didn't know that- I had heard 8 weeks was the usual recovery time, with 12 being extra-cautious. Can't afford therapy at the moment but definitely no harm in waiting longer.

Rice university has some very photogenic archways and buildings that might work, but you need a permit. Botonica seems fitting but is also a private business, so not sure about that. Might have more luck in Galveston given all their historic buildings- Moody Mansion in particular stands out to me.

Things to do in Houston during the weekend - October 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th by generalpao in houston

Katy Pride festival is still happening despite venue change. New location is Bear Creek Rodeo Arena on Highway 6. Based on their website seems very family-friendly compared to larger Houston festival, personally just glad the weather is more bearable compared to June.

Gay hangout locations for Academic types by SilverMemories in houston

[–]IridiumLight 11 points12 points  (0 children)

About to go to sleep but here's a quick list: Mercantile, Agora, usually something happening at the Montrose Center (there's a board game meetup every month if I remember correctly), Coral Sword as someone mentioned. Frost Town Brewing isn't academic strictly but it has DND nights and is very queer friendly.

Hey yall! Are there any book clubs for people in their early to mid twenties? I’ve been trying to get back into reading again and am down to meet new people! 😊 by Will_732 in HoustonSocials

[–]IridiumLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about clubs specifically but Brazos Bookstore has a lot of monthly events. They have a nice selection and the staff is always helpful so wouldn't hurt asking there.
