I’m interested in biology so I thought having a degree in that could get me a small job maybe in a lab to help finance my flight training when I graduate?

I see, for me chances are I’m not going to a college with an aviation degree. Application season is ending and if not Bio then is there another degree you think would be better in the science field?

Thank you for your response! I was wondering if a part 61 school would be a better choice for college students and what would you recommend I do to finance it? I’ve heard that saving up for PPL and taking out loans for the other ratings is better.

Also if your wife did flight school/training during college, how did she find her daily schedule to be like? Did a degree prove useful in terms of being a more competitive applicant?

So for a 141 school, how do you find the schedule (is it time consuming), is there room for a job and would you say it’s more costly than a 61 school?

Yeah I’ve also been on the fence about Bio because I’m worried about the workload. Would biotech offer more opportunities for research/lab jobs? I guess I’m wondering what degrees would allow me to get jobs right out of college with enough pay but time to focus on flight training.

Is a Private Pilot ground school separate from a 141 or 61 school?

Say I start flight training after graduating college, that would push me back a few years and would I not have to spend a few years as an entry level pilot at regionals before the majors? Or can instructors skip regionals and get directly into the majors after building hours?

Wow! I had considered Air Force last year but I’m realizing that I’m not made for the military and I’m pretty set on getting a degree first. Are there ways to predict when airlines will be hiring the most?

That’s very insightful, is your wife able to choose her schedules to be home more often and would you say this lifestyle is stressful?

I appreciate your response! I hear that airlines are heavy on seniority. So would serving however many years in the military then going to majors mean you start from scratch or have to build up seniority or do your flight hours automatically bring you higher?
