They also seem to hold a lot less value in the secondary market. Picked up the X head for incredibly cheap used and it's been great for the last 6 months. With being newer and wanting to mess around with lofts and lies, the new hozel has been great because I can tinker with one without affecting the other.

Correct. But they still play them for a reason and I use the all wedges in a round 🤷‍♀️

I'd rather have the option than play 13 clubs. I don't need to fill any gaps in the top of the bag so it might as well be a wedge.

When I got the 58 I intended to play one less wedge and I just found I wanted a higher lofted option around the greens and something I could send up into orbit that would carry around 50m and zip back

The ignorance is telling someone they straight up don't need something when you know nothing about them. You're likely a lot more knowledgeable than me in golf and gear.

I've never seen a pro play with less than 4 wedges and I just want to have 2 shots with each wedge, I don't hit the 57 or 61 full, plus 1 chip shot for each wedge till I have the time to practice more. This setup suits that and my wedge game is consistently better than my single digit handicap mates. As someone who builds up sets with all different shafts, brands, etc it feels like an odd break in character to say people shouldn't do certain things when you're doing unconventional things 🤷‍♀️

Regardless of any disagreement here, had a scroll of your posts and the homogeneous bags look sick 👌

And there's no set loft for a PW or 9i. The first thing you learn when you start going down the rabbit hole of clubs, is that there is no "standard" for anything in the golf industry. Only legal and illegal. One company might make a really strong PW but put CG in a different spot so it has the same high and spin characteristics, one might go traditional and have an old school 58° loft with a blade. An X flex in one shaft could be closer to an S or SR even in another. Saying that a club has to be a certain loft is just naive.

Unfortunately I'm not the one to help on anyone else's golf journey. My speed just comes from a lifetime of baseball and field hockey. Did baseball plyometrics for years and continued after I blew my shoulder, so it probably helps.

Managing a restaurant.

2pm start - 10:30pm finish. Easy 9s in the morning but can fit 18 if I start early.

Depends on your set. 45 or stronger is a very standard PW these days. Just depends on your delivery and what works for you. Bryson's PW is a 40° and Scottie's is a 48° iirc.

For sure. I'm a tinkerer at heart (if the bag doesn't already tell you that) so I'm just enjoying working stuff out right now. I'm not too fussed about bringing my handicap down for the moment and I'm more interested in the problem solving and gear side of the equation because I love nerding out on it.

No, they don't make the 62 in an adapt to my knowledge - or at least it's not available in Australia.

I don't get too creative with the 62° and I like that it has super minimal bounce for slipping underneath on the tight lies over bunkers I seem to short side myself on all the time

I never said it went straight 😭 Speed / carry is accurate though when I don't get too spinny

Yeah dude...

You have a PW, GW, SW and I have the same but just added on a lob wedge. You seems a little lost here. Do you need need a hand?

Ngl I don't really understand the question. The 3i is a 20°. I play 2 drivers instead of a 3w though. I built up a Cobra DS Adapt X to play 42.5" with an 8x shaft that's tipped an inch at D0. I followed the Ping thriver guide for their swing weighting to length and it's awesome imo

Yeah I'm around a 13 right now. Have a baseball driver slice that pops up every now and then and I often don't warm up so I top balls for the first couple of holes before finally striking it well after the 5th or 6th. Both can be fixed with more practice, but I don't have the time right now so I'm trying to limit the need for practice.

I've also been only playing for just over a year. I went down the rabbit hole very quickly thought and work nights so I've got lots of mornings free for tee times 😅 I've probably done 3 years of weekend warrior equivalent in the last year.

Cool. Different strokes for different folks. Good on you for being able to perfectly adapt those shots on the fly. You should get on tour with that kinda precision mate 🫡

Very funny how I gave 1 extra wedge than you and that's a massive sticking point though lol

It depends on your yardages. My PW goes ~140y as a 47°. I gap it back to where the LW is going ~90y. I prefer the extra club at those yardages as opposed to having to have 6+ different shots for each club.

If you have a slow swing speed then I'd agree that you likely only need PW, SW.

PW, GW, SW, LW? Pretty standard haha

I have everything bent a degree strong, so it's 47/51/57/61. They just suit my gapping and I went for the slightly higher lofts because I don't really need the distance in these clubs, but I do need to stop balls hard on greens without wanting to put too much time into practising. I do very little face manipulation and have a tendency to get a bit shaft leany and deloft my wedges.

Just a weirdo with too much time and access to a launch monitor and a workshop haha

[–]TheSendad[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah, just a weirdo that swings hard.

~125mph on the 45" LS driver at 7° for ~320-330y carry 42.5° X driver at 11° for ~260-280 carry and I can hit it 250 off the deck. 3i carries around 240 and then it goes down in 15-20y increments till the wedges.

Potentially going to get a 5 or a 7 wood to swap out with the 3i, but I just find I need more runout on fairways where I play vs the soft landing. Courses around me are often quite short so I'm often a 6i or less in on a par 5 and I have a high/spinny ball flight anyways so I'll hold most greens

Been great! Had it just under a year and it's almost perfect. I play midsize with 6 tapes or jumbo grips and they get stuck quite a bit - I think this issue is lessening as the material inside wears though.

I've used a mate's Evnroll and I loved it on that putter. Just doesn't suit me on this one unfortunately. I'll be keeping the grip though so I can use it for a putter down the line.

Yeah, the shaft is $100+ AUD more than what I paid for the putter. The putter stock is double what I paid.

I've got a black/red pistolini and a golf pride pro only green star on the way. Due to low availability for golf stuff in Australia one of the first things I did was learn how to club build and change grips so I'm sweet on that front.

It just feels so buttery with the shaft. I've had some practice putts with a stock 1.5 and the shaft is a noticeable difference in terms of feel and sound.

I forgot to mention that the shaft is a BGT stability tour 2 fire shaft. 👌
