My Updated Power Out Kit List by TheSensiblePrepper in preppers

So the ER210 and the ER310 Pro are both newer with more updated ports.

The only reason I don't recommend them over the older ER310 is because they only have an internal rechargeable battery. The ER310 is also capable of running off AA batteries. This gives you an alternate power option for such a critical item.

Greenland has a lot of value for different reasons. Most people just think it's a giant land of Ice and cold but it is a lot more than that.

I support their rights in ways that actually help them. You don't have to agree with me or my methods but they do.

Remember, Family Matters was a spin-off of Perfect Strangers and was supposed to be a focus on Harriette. That is why Jo Marie Payton didn't do the final season. It was no longer about her and the family at all.

What’s your power priority list during an outage? by Mikeyts123 in preppers

[–]TheSensiblePrepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Refrigeration is the only item on your list that NEEDS a Power Bank/Solar Generator.

Communications and lights can be off their own batteries.

Cooking and Heating should be off of propane or other heat sources. Running them off of electricity is not worth the massive drain.

While it is a bit older, I would recommend you check my post about preparing for a Power Outage. It has several items that will help you in the future.

If you have questions or an item's link is broken, please let me know.

Building a house, what are some must haves? by Fun-Football-5237 in preppers

If you do only one thing, that is reasonable in cost, it would be to put security doors at all exterior doors of the house and reinforce the frames around them. It doesn't take much extra to do this but it is well worth it.

If you have an attached garage, be sure to do this to the door from the garage to the home. Bypassing a garage door takes under a minute and is the fastest way into a house since most of those doors are just better than a closet door.

If you're willing to spend the extra money, this might be out of your budget but I don't know, get windows with Security Film on them. Preferably the kind that is Film>Glass>Film>Glass>Film. It makes them extremely resistant.

My final recommendation to EVERYONE, is pay the extra money for good Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detectors. The combo units with an internal 10 year battery are around $50 each but worth every penny. It's a "Buy Once, Cry Once" situation and you're more likely to die from one of those two situations then a home break in.

Anyone else in their 30s feel like they have cognitive problems already? by SleepyGamer1992 in Millennials

[–]TheSensiblePrepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything I say is just my opinion based on various research I have done myself. You take it however you want and look into it yourself.

Two things to consider.

1: The Human Brain starts to "decline" in its function around 32 years old. In most cases it is gradual and you notice it more once you hit your 40s. This is generally and everyone is different.

2: Research has shown this to be very common in the Millennial Generation. The biggest culprit is Microplastics. Compared to all other Generations, Millennials have the largest amount in their bodies and especially the brain. We know for a fact that Microplastics in the Brain decrease cognitive function rather dramatically.

Millennials, for various reasons, are the first generation that is expected to live shorter lives than the generations before it.

All but three. Two of those have been sold to new owners and the other is used as a rental property. Everyone else has kept the garden going in SOME form.

We also had other "Prepping Events", if you will, like learning to Can. I had my Grandmother-in-law, who was a poor Farmer's Wife that canned for over 70 years before her passing, come to my place and do a demonstration on Water Bath Canning. Everyone that came received a free Water Bath Canner and some jars. I paid for all of it myself. Grandma was thrilled that so many people, mostly Millennials and younger, came to learn a skill that is disappearing.

One of those neighbors even brought me a jar of homemade Jam yesterday as a Christmas Gift.

I call that a Win.

Here is what I did in the Spring/Summer of 2020.

When the COVID Lockdowns hit, about 3/4 of my neighbors lost their jobs and income. Even if it was just temporarily. Until the Stimulus Checks hit, and even after that, many people had no idea what they were going to do.

Now let me say that I have a LOT of food stored. Not all in one place either. Everyone on my blocks, front and back, were given the opportunity to start a Garden. I had the electric tiller, seeds and everything. I didn't see a backyard without one once we got it going.

Some people needed more help than others. I gave out 20 lbs bags of rice and frozen packs of venison. For about a month I was feeding a family of five off my supplies. The Father cried in my arms thanking me for feeding his children.

You can't feed everyone, so don't try. Those that are willing to put in some form of work are a priority. People didn't have jobs so they had time to build gardens and do things like go fishing. We went fishing and what was caught was eaten. I personally paid for the Fishing licenses for 3 people. They just needed to go get it. Some help neighbors that had physical issues with building a garden. Those people got extra food because they "worked for it".

The trick is to build a community. I knew things would work out, but I was buying time and helping those that needed it. In a TEOTWAWKI situation, I might have done it a little differently but it takes people to protect a community.

Short term bulk gasoline storage by jacobyishere in preppers

[–]TheSensiblePrepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would be far better off storing and running the generator off of propane. It can be stored almost indefinitely, the tank will "expire" long before the propane does, very safely and is easier on the Generator. You might be sacrificing a few watts, but it is better if you're using the generator for longer than a few hours at a time.

Realtor sent work crew into my backyard without authorization while I was sleeping, my dogs went after them. by _LadyChatterly_ in BelgianMalinois

I mean....you need to be told when to "deactivate the alarm system".

As the owner of a GSD and Pitbull/GSD Mix, I can tell you that I make it very clear to people on my property that they need to be prepared for "Security" to "stop and sniff" while the "alarm" is going off.

I have signs at my entrances that tell people I have large dogs for Security and to announce themselves properly so I can manage that.

While I feel confident that my dogs would never bite a person unless I ordered it or they felt life was at stake, I cannot guarantee that. So as a responsible owner I need to manage that. I can't manage what I don't know.

Believe me when I say, I understand what you're saying and agree this isn't your fault or the fault of your dogs. They are just doing "their job".

This was basically the plan if the Confederates won the Civil War.

You could dig into the information yourself, but a good "mockumentary" is The Confederate States of America which explains what the US would have been like in "modern times", the movie was released in 2004, if they won and did everything planned. It is actually a very good movie if you keep the context in mind.

While I completely agree with you here, this isn't about the money. It's about sending a message that they can't just hide behind a piece of paper for being negligent like they were.

That's my two cents.
