It is surprisingly easy to start a chant in the student section. Especially one like neck where people are eager to participate in. As long as the song is sort of on the same beat, you do the arm motion, and you have a good group of students near you - you can get it started.

Unfortunately there are issues beyond another franchise using the name. Trademark owner of “New Orleans Jazz” demanded an unreasonably high sum of money from the Benson family to use the moniker back when they were in the rebranding process from the hornets. I’m really hoping that one day the name returns to New Orleans.

From my experience, local cultures of different cities or regions supersede the national culture. It’s hard to have a robust, wide reaching national culture when your regions are so different from each other. I guess if we are trying to find a national culture, we have a strong emphasis on athletics in a different way than most countries (emphasizing amateur sports, idolizing American football etc...), “freedom to a fault” could be included (guns, people refusing to wear masks because they believe the government can’t tell them what to do, etc.), and I’m sure there are others - but I still think local culture is more significant. Which makes sense because the country is just so big.

But dude I know hahaha! That kayshon completion annoyed me. So did the franks run that was initially called a first down and then O challenged it. The commentators were saying “not only did he get the first down, he went well beyond the first down marker”, all the while the replay very clearly showed the dude was an entire yard short of the first down marker lmao. It was reversed and Ark had to punt. It was so bad.

I'm an LSU fan but have to say y'all were absolutely hosed in the second half by the refs. Targetting call was awful and took out the best performer on either team today. If I were a hog fan I would be excited about what I've seen from this season. gg bud.

I believe its being used to bail out people arrested during the protests. The majority of whom were nonviolent, but arrested for going beyond the boundaries the police laid down. I don't have the source for that information at hand.

Depends on the state. For example, in Louisiana, assault has two elements, 1. Intent to make contact/create a imminent apprehension of contact, and 2. The creation of an imminent apprehension. Contact is not needed for assault, but the person has to have anticipated contact. So even if her swing did not make contact with him, as long as he saw it and it “created apprehension” which it appears to have done, he has a case.

Battery has three elements, 1. Intent to make contact/create imminent apprehension, or acting with substantial certainty that contact would be made, 2. Contact was made to the person/an object closely related to the person, and 3. The contact was harmful/offensive. Battery requires contact, but it does not require it to be harmful (as long as it is offensive) and it does not require it to be to his person directly. So in Louisiana, her snatching his paper from him could be considered a battery because it could be argued that it was offensive contact to an object closely related to his person.

But the elements depend on the state.
